Guzz - Fantasia in the Wind 风中的幻想曲

Electronic producer Guzz, known for his dreamlike pastiche of traditional Asian sounds spliced with contemporary electronica, continues heads deeper into contemporary classical music with his latest - the sprawling whimsical Fantasia in the Wind. By terraforming electronic sounds into traditional instruments and notes - the highly skilled artist has in many ways commissioned an electronic orchestra of his own, crafting narratively rich tracks that hook you. At times sounding like a soundtrack to a long lost Final Fantasy game, and featuring samples from Lizu singers (a ethnic group in Hainan) - it may not be suited for the club but it is one of the most lush releases this year, an audial adventure one can’t wait to revisit again and again.

33EMYBW - Holes of Sinian 震旦之石

Arthropodal electronic producer 33EMYBW - returns with her fourth album (once again under China-born label SVBKVLT) Holes of Sinian - an atmospheric and singular work that puts the artist in the pantheon of electronic artists here in China. Exploring the ‘overlapping gaps and penetrating scenes’ of its title stone, the artist joins top-notch collaborators of the avant-garde electronic scene including Marina Herlop, Batu, Forrest Gander and oxi peng, for an otherworldly  showcase one can only peg as ‘experimental dance music’. There’s something thrilling at the core of 33’s sound - as the producer ricochets over unknown terrains - ones deftly and delicately weaved together through sounds both modern and traditional in atypical fashion - a new world order that only the producer is privy to.

ayrtbh - Unstable Mediocrity 不稳定的平庸

Long-standing Hangzhou-based computer musician ayrtbh returns with his latest journey into the mainframe with Unstable Mediocrity. Based on a computer software created by Wang Changchun himself - one in which ‘all melodies and rhythms are generated in real-time by a computer controlled by the performer through a self-invented interactive interface’ - the music works as both IDM curiosity and computer music wonder - zeroing in on the intersection of work and play - of man and machine - of experimentation and methodology. 

来自杭州的资深电脑音乐家 ayrtbh 带着最新作品《不稳定的平庸》重访主计算机。在王长存开发的电脑软件中，“所有旋律和节奏都是由演奏者通过自创的交互界面控制电脑实时生成”，这张专辑既是 IDM 好奇之心的体现，也是电脑音乐的奇迹，它关注工作与娱乐、人与机器、实验与方法论的交点。
