Hey, what's up everybody? Happy National Day! Today, we're celebrating the 69th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. But hey, today isn't really our 69th birthday! We're much older than that! China, and the spirit of the Chinese people go much further back than just 69 years. For thousands of years, in this place, people have met, traded, built, loved, lost, fought and grieved. They built strong communities, they worked hard to build better lives for generations to come. The story of China is really the story of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. During this festive Golden Week, I'm gonna share three noteworthy achievements we Chinese have made with you guys. They're something that we should be proud of, something that would inspire us. Let's start off with Baidu, shall we?

Baidu was co-founded in the year 2000 by Robin Li, with its first office in a hotel room near Beijing University. Over time, it would become one of the largest Internet companies in the world. Wow, can you believe that? Baidu's literal meaning is "hundreds of times," 众里寻他千百度，which is meant to represent a persistent search for the ideal. In 2005, the company went public in the U.S on NASDAQ(美国全国证券交易商协会自动报价表 ~ 简称：纳斯达克). It's the employer to around 40,000 people globally. The majority of Baidu's revenue comes from advertising through its many platforms. Baidu is now among the list of the highest revenue-generating internet companies, bringing in more money than Netflix(美国视频网站) or eBay(美国线上拍卖及购物网站). Aww man, 真厉害！

Besides Baidu, Baidu Encyclopedia, and its iQiyi, what's next? Baidu's CEO said he thinks eventually Baidu will go into Europe, U.S. and many other countries. Baidu has research facilities for artificial intelligence in Beijing, Seattle and Silicon Valley. And then there's the self-driving vehicle project, in which it's partnering with Microsoft(微软), Intel(英特尔) and Daimler(戴姆勒汽车公司) to try and bring autonomous driving(自主驾驶技术) worldwide. Baidu has already developed self-driving buses , and is starting to manufacture them too. The company says it wants to see them on the streets of many of the nation's cities soon. But, it's not just China, Baidu is also planning to distribute to foreign markets as well.

Baidu continues to dominate China's search market, but its next test is scaling its artificial intelligence and self-driving technology outside of China. If they can pull that off, it could become a truly global tech company. Wow, isn't that amazing? So be proud of our accomplishment, be proud of our country. For this is China. And this is home! Alright, let's talk about the phrase of the day which is "for generations to come", let's check it out!
