【英音】Catch-22 是什么呀？

Gentlemen, we have all been asked this question before: 如果我跟你妈妈掉进水里, 你会先救谁? I believe in Chinese this is called 左右为难... Trust me, our English speaking brothers have also been asked this question and they have invented a term for these situations, it is called “Catch-22”↓ ↓ ↓

Catch-22 (also : catch-22)

Definition: a situation presenting two equally undesirable alternatives; a frustrating situation in which one is trapped by contradictory regulations or conditions.

左右为难、进退维谷、无法摆脱的困境

You just put me in a Catch-22 situation.

你这真令我左右为难呀。

It's a Catch-22 situation - without experience you can't get a job and without a job you can't get experience.

真是左右为难 - 没有经验就找不到工作，没有工作就得不到经验。

Ladies like to ask guys this question,"If I and your mother fell into the sea, who're you gonna save first? If you are alone with your girlfriend, then of course you're gonna tell her, "宝贝, I will save you first." What if she asks you in front of your mother? Then you could say, "宝贝, you just put me in a Catch-22 situation." If you would like to be more formal, you could say, "you just put me in a difficult position." "Catch-22" is a less formal way of saying it.
