He also appointed as a professor of Univ. Tokyo since 2017. His H-index is 106 (Web of Science, September, 2020) and he has been selected as a highly cited researcher in both materials science and chemistry. Editorial activities: Editor-in-Chief of Bulletin of Chemical Society of Japan; International Advisory Board of Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Chemistry An Asian Journal, ChemNanoMat; Editorial Board Member of Advanced Materials, Chemistry of Materials, Langmuir (- 2014), ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Appl. Mater. Today, Small Methods, etc. He is a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, a Member of World Economic Forum Expert Network and Honorary Member of Materials Research Society of India.
Q: Could you briefly introduce your research?
A: All interesting things from atom to life occurring at interfaces.Q: What got you interested in science in the first place?
A: Because science is interesting.
Q: What is the most attractive thing as a scientist?
A: I may be able to reach at the place beyond all human
Q: Who have influenced your career and thinking the most?
A: Prof. Toyoki Kunitake (Kyushu Univ.)
Q:How do you see the future of nano-assembly of polymers, enzymes, and nanoparticles and its biomedical application?
A: Creation of life forms (or equivalent functional systems) all with artificial matters
Q: What kind of impact would you expect from your research on nanoarchitectonics?
A: Nanoarchitectonics can bridge nanotechnology and materials science.
Q: (If applicable)What’s your next project?
A: I will think about it tomorrow. However, tomorrow never come. The next project will visit me from unexpected worlds.
Q: How do you balance between work and life?
A: Research (work) = life
Q: What is your hobby?
A: Research
Q: What do you think is the most important characteristic for a researcher?
A: Freedom of thinking (thinking outside the box)
Q: Could you give some advice for young researchers starting out in your field?
A: You do not have to be better than your friends, but you must be different from the others.
