《射雕》终于出了英译版，被译成了《秃鹫英雄传奇》...... 看到黄蓉译为黄莲花，网友彻底不干了

《射雕英雄传》英译版发行，网友惊呆了，难道这些年看了假射雕！黄莲花Lotus Huang、双重太阳Double Sun 、莉莉李Lily Li、吉尔登全Gilden Quan、瑞德韩Ryder Han ，这些都是谁？
终于等到了。 22日，英译版《射雕英雄传》（Legends of the Condor Heroes）第1卷《英雄诞生》（A Hero Born），由英国麦克莱霍斯出版社面向全球发行。
CD君（ID：chinadailywx）在之前的文章中也介绍过，《射雕英雄传》第一卷的译者是个英国女孩Anna Holmwood，中文名郝玉青。《射雕》英文版明年现身西方江湖 原来“打狗棒”、“九阴白骨爪”英语这样说
去年，在该出版社确认要出《射雕英雄传》英文版后，网友就炸开了锅，武侠人物的名称、武功招数怎么翻译一度成为网友讨论的焦点。
前几天译本出版后，更是引发了热议。光是书的英文名字就有网友接受不了。
《射雕英雄传》Legends of the Condor Heroes——秃鹰英雄的传奇
其实CD君在之前的文章里就已经介绍过了，“射雕”的“雕”，为什么翻译成 Condor？↓↓ 不知道两只白雕的拥护者能否接受这样的解释。
让部分网友接受不了的还有，黄蓉被翻译为了“Lotus Huang”——黄莲花（CD君猜想，作者应该是取“出水芙蓉”之意，故将“蓉”译为了Lotus“荷花”“莲花”），王重阳被翻译为了Double Sun ——双重太阳。
这位笑称，“黄蓉变黄莲花，感觉一股Lily Huang 的即视感”的网友，应该不知道郭靖的母亲李萍，就是被翻译为了“Lily Li”。
小说中有很多人名是直接使用的拼音，比如郭靖 Guo Jing、杨康 Yang Kang、王处一 Wang Chuyi、马钰 Ma Yu 、朱聪Zhu Cong......
但是，很多名字并不是用的拼音。
有的是直译，比如，陈玄风Hurricane Chen“飓风陈”，梅超风，Cyclone Mei“旋风梅”，郭啸天 Skyfury Guo“天怒郭”、杨铁心 Ironheart Yang“铁心杨”。
有的是意译，包惜弱 Charity Bao“仁慈包”。穆念慈 Mercy Mu“仁慈穆”。Mercy有仁慈的意思，与“念慈” 相吻合。同时，Mercy本身就是一个外国人名“梅西”。
而，除了直译、意译和拼音，还有很多名字是译者起的，比如郭靖的妈妈李萍 Lily Li“莉莉李”、全金发Gilden Quan“吉尔登全”、江南七怪韩宝驹Ryder Han “瑞德韩”。在韩宝驹的翻译上，译者还给出了翻译，Protector of the steeds，“保护战马”。（CD君想说，驹和战马还真不一样。而且，韩宝驹以前是个马贩子，还真不是个保护者的形象。）
不过中西方，文化差异很大，加之中国文化博大精深。不少网友称能翻译成这样，已经实属不易了。
英译本为了方便读者理解在第二篇章附有“人物介绍”。
郭靖、杨康还好介绍。“天下五绝”就有难度了。而要译出全真七子（丹阳子、长春子、长真子、玉阳子、太古子、长生子和清静散人）江南七怪（飞天蝙蝠、妙手书生、马王神、南山樵子、笑弥陀、闹市侠隐、越女剑 ）以及他们的武功、暗器更是难上加难了。
郭靖，郭啸天和李萍的儿子。 他的爸爸在他出生前就死了。他随母亲在蒙古长大。在那儿，他们备受后来大蒙古国可汗——成吉思汗的照顾。
Guo Jing，son of Skyfury Guo and Lily Li. After his father's death before he was born, he grows up with his mother in Mongolia, where they are looked after by the future Genghis Khan.
杨康，杨铁心和包惜弱的儿子。当他和郭靖分别在母亲肚子里的时候，就被指腹结拜为兄弟。
Yang Kang, son of Ironheart Yang and Charity Bao, sworn as brother to Guo Jing while both are still in their mother's bellies.
到“天下五绝”的时候，就比较难介绍了。 由于2月22日出版的是《射雕英雄传》第一卷，因此很多重要人物还没有提及。 在出版小说中，译者专门备注称，
华山论剑后，天下公认的五大武林宗师中，只有两位宗师在第一卷中被提及。
Considered the five greatest martial artists after a contest was held on Mount Hua. Only two are mentioned in this first book :
东邪黄药师，孤独且离经叛道，武功谓之邪， 与妻子、六个徒弟深居桃花岛。
The Eastern Heretic Apothecary Huang, a loner and radical who practices his unorthodox martial arts on Peach Blossom Island along with his wife and six students.
他漠视“传统礼教”，却视真爱、忠诚为大节。

王重阳，在终南山创立全真教，习得道教武术，为能有朝一日可抵抗金入侵以保护宋。他是一个真实的历史人物，出生在公元1113年到1170年。
Double Sun Wang Chongyang, founder of the Quanzhen Sect in the Zhongnan Mountains, with the aim of training Taoists in the martial arts to that they might defend the Song against the Jurchen invasion. A real historical figure,he lived from A.D. 1113 to 1170.
在金庸的小说里，像王重阳一样的真实人物还有很多。金庸的十五部小说都是在真实的历史事件中改编的，加载一些情节，主线符合历史。
金庸小说中由真实的历史人物改编而来的人物：
《天龙八部》—耶律洪基 、完颜阿骨打、段正淳
《射雕英雄传》—王重阳、全真七子、哲别、窝阔台、拖雷、铁木真、完颜洪烈、周伯通

《鹿鼎记》—鳌拜、康熙、吴三桂、李自成

如果说“天下五绝”翻译起来是很难，那翻译起，“全真七子”和“江南七怪”就更是难上加难了。
全真七子 The Seven Immortals, students of Wang Chongyang
译者解释称，在第一卷中只出现了全真七子中的三位。

丹阳子马钰 Scarlet Sun Ma Yu ——鲜红色的太阳马钰
全真七子中年纪最大的，传授以呼吸方法为基础的内功。

故事的开头，丘处机是杨铁心和郭啸天的挚友，誓言要保护他们未出生的孩子。为此，他设计出了一场与江南七怪的比武。他成为杨康的师父。
......befriends Ironheart Yang and Skyfury Guo at the beginning of the series and vows to protect their unborn offspring. To this end, he devises a martial contest with the Seven Freaks of the South. He becomes teacher to Yang Kang.

江南七怪 THE SEVEN FREAKS OF THE SOUTH ——南部的七个怪人
柯镇恶 Ke Zhen'e, Suppressor of Evil (直译：镇压邪恶) also known as Flying Bat 也称“飞天蝙蝠”。
为了解释清柯镇恶用的暗器，译者也是拼尽了全力。 flying devilnuts就是那个铁菱么？
译者解释：就是铁的投掷物，形状与中国的水菱角相似。

妙手书生朱聪 Quick Hands Zhu Cong the intelligent ——快手朱聪
以脑子快著称，但比起思维更快的是他的手上技法。他的脏褂子和一把破油纸扇，其实是铁扇骨，让他盗术天下无双。
...is known for his quick thinking and even quicker sleight of hand. His dirty scholar's dress and broken oil-paper fan, really made from iron, belie his real martial skill.

韩小莹Jade Han, 越女剑法 Maiden of the Yue Sword （大概是认为莹是晶莹剔透的玉,译者将其翻译为玉韩。）
比较难译的还有一些武功名称，比如：
《九阴真经》Nine Yin Manual —— 九阴操作手册
“九阴白骨爪” Nine Yin Skeleton claw——九阴骷髅爪
“降龙十八掌”the 18 palm attacks to defeat dragons”——击败龙的十八掌击。
其实译者早前在接受《中国日报》采访时就曾说过，通常人们都认为最难翻译的部分是那些武功招数的名称，但她觉得那不是最关键的。
重要的是译文能否让英语读者被书中的情绪和人物吸引，能否让读者被超凡脱俗的武打所震撼，能否将书中的阴谋诡计翻得扣人心弦。
“It’s all about whether the English reader will be drawn into the emotions and the characters, that he or she will be amazed by the prowess of the fighting or caught up in the political intrigues.”

金庸原文：

英译版原文：
“I didn’t ask you your name,” he said and smiled.
“Yes, we forgot. My family name is Guo, my given name Jing. And you?”
“My family name is Huang, my given name Lotus.”
（“我还没有问你的名字呢”，他笑着说。“是的，我们都忘了。我姓郭，名靖。你呢？”“我姓黄，名莲花。”）
但CD君发现。此处小说最初的样稿和最终出版的内容是有差别的。尤其是在介绍郭靖黄蓉的名字时，
样稿是：
“I didn’t ask you your name,” he said and smiled. “Yes, we forgot. My family name is Guo, my given name Jing, meaning Serenity. And you?” “My family name is Huang, my given name Rong, meaning Lotus.”

其实，金庸先生的作品翻译之难，在西方业界也是达成共识的。
美国Quartzy网站2017年11月17日发表文章就曾经这样写：
金庸笔下的武侠世界充满想象力，作品的深度、宽度及创造力和英国作家J·R·R·托尔金的作品不分伯仲。但是，由于语言鸿沟，他的作品在英语国家中并不是太知名。
Though Cha’s fantasy worlds rival J.R.R. Tolkien’s every bit in creativity, breadth, and depth, his works remain relatively unknown to English readers because of a conspicuous lack of translations.
事实上，金庸的作品缺少英文翻译的原因之一很简单——翻译起来太难了。
Indeed, one of the reasons that Cha’s novels have for so long lacked English translations despite his popularity in the Chinese-speaking world is that it was simply deemed too difficult.
美国Quartzy网站介绍称：
金庸小说中人物的名字极富特色，比如“江南七怪（Seven Freaks of the South）”等，这些人行走在 “江湖”之中。中国读者熟悉的“江湖”，字面意思为“江和湖”，但其意蕴很难翻译成英文，因为它常用来表示和古代传统社会平行存在的社会环境，其生存法规和道德自成一派。“江湖”和“武林”休戚相关，后者指代会武术的人组成的群体。
The characters in Cha’s world—who have colorful names like the “Seven Freaks of the South” and “Immortal Cloud Sect”—operate in what is known as the jianghu, a term that is familiar to Chinese speakers and any reader of wuxia fiction but difficult to translate into English. The word literally translates as “rivers and lakes,” but is typically used to mean people who live in a world parallel to conventional society, one that operates by its own laws and code of ethics. It is closely linked to another wuxia term, the wulin, or “martial arts forest,” referring to a community of people practicing martial arts.
在波士顿大学中国文学及比较文学系的副教授Petrus Liu的眼中，语言和文风是翻译的难点之一。
“翻译金庸的作品是一件棘手的事情，他语言非常丰富，为了营造类似于中国古代通俗小说的文风，他运用了大量古汉语散文、诗歌；大量的成语还有方言俗语。”
"Translating Jin Yong is often a daunting task because of the complexity of his language, which integrates prose and poetry and makes extensive use of ‘four-character phrases’ and other Chinese idioms in order to recreate the ‘feel’ of traditional Chinese vernacular novels."
但无论如何，金庸小说已经迈出了走向世界的最重要一步。但正如英文版《射雕英雄传》的第一卷介绍中，译者所说。
“多人认为金庸的世界对于英语读者来说，异域风味太浓了，太中国了。不可能翻译。”
"Many have considered Jin Yong's world too foreign, too Chinese for an English-speaking readership. Impossible to translate.
“但这个故事里的爱、忠诚、荣耀、对腐败官府和入侵者的抗争又是每一个故事都渴望拥有的。”
"And yet this story of love, loyalty, honor and the power of the individual against successive corrupt governments and invading forces is as universal as any story could hope to be.
