Tsinghua SPPM holds 2023 Global Advisory Board Meeting

On November 11th, 2023，Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management (Tsinghua SPPM) held its 2023 Global Advisory Board Meeting (hereinafter as GAB Meeting), centered on the theme of “Modernization and Global Public Governance”. Gu Shengzu, Vice Chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Qiu Yong, chairman of Tsinghua University Council, actively participated in the meeting and delivered their remarks. A keynote speech was made by Lou Jiwei, Former Minister of Finance, PRC.

Peng Zongchao, Party Secretary of Tsinghua SPPM, moderated the opening ceremony. From the international participants, John L. Thornton, Executive Chairman of Barrick Gold Corporation and Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Asia Society, moderated the closed-door meeting of the GAB members and invited guests. Zhu Xufeng, Dean of Tsinghua SPPM, presented to them the 2023 Work Report of Tsinghua SPPM.

The esteemed GAB members and guests attending the meeting successively shared their remarks and provided valuable suggestions in response to the 2023 Work Report of Tsinghua SPPM presented by Dean Zhu Xufeng. Prominent representatives and practitioners of public management included Wu Hongbo, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs and Former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations; Tam Yiu-chung, Vice President of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies; Irina Bokova, Former Director-General of UNESCO; and Wu Bo, Chief Executive Officer of China International Capital Corporation Limited. Outstanding scholars from the academic field present in the meeting included Danny Quah, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore; Yan Jirong, Dean of the School of Government, Peking University; Yan Jinming, Dean of the School of Public Administration and Policy, Renmin University of China; Jiang Xiaojuan, President of the China Society of Industrial Economics and Professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; along with other notable GAB members and guests.

In the evening, Modern Governance Forum was held at Tsinghua University. Wang Xiqin, President of  Tsinghua University, gave welcome remarks and Peng Gang, Vice President of Tsinghua University, moderated at the opening ceremony of the Forum. 

Heads, members and teaching personnel belonging to relevant school departments at Tsinghua University and Tsinghua SPPM also took part in the meeting.
