Mission and objectivesYouth Co:Lab positions young people front and center in order to solve the region’s most pressing challenges. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth, so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship. Youth Co:Lab has been implemented in 25 countries and territories across Asia Pacific: Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Fiji, Hong Kong (SAR), Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vanuatu and Viet Nam.
ContextRecently, Youth Co:Lab launched the Movers Programme, a regional movement of volunteers who organise and facilitate workshops at a grassroots level to raise awareness about the SDGs and develop entrepreneurial mindsets among youth.
Task descriptionThe Online Volunteer will translate from English to Chinese a train-the-trainer toolkit developed by Youth Co:Lab, used by youth to organise workshops about leadership and the Sustainable Development Goals 14 Life Below Water in their community. The translation should be youth-friendly and localized in order to reach and engage with more remote communities. The toolkit, hosted online, is a mix of Word and PowerPoint documents as well as a survey. The toolkit has around 6,000 English words. We will be available to answer any question and provide the necessary support.
Requirements
Required experienceChinese as mother tongue is mandatory. Professional experience as a translator and/or translation studies are highly appreciated. Interest in life below water and/or youth empowerment is a plus.
