当今世界,人类社会发展日益加速,无论是在工业,农业,还是第三产业服务业,高新技术产业,都是处于人类历史上空前发展最快的一个阶段。社会的发展提高了人类的生活水平,大大加强了社会生产力,同时对能源(如煤,石油)的需求和使用也大幅提高,从汽车内燃机到家用用电器,无不需要能源去运作。涂善东教授的讲座将会讨论该问题以及相应策略


Abstract

The lecture will introduce the fundamental elements that enabled the application of energy systems by a historical review of the use steam energy which trigged the industrial revolution. The interaction between science and technology, technology and society and politics will be discussed. A case study on the commercialization of ECUST coal gasification technology will also be given. Strategies that may speed up energy technology transfer will be recommended.

Shan-Tung Tu涂善东 


Shan-Tung Tu is a Chair Professor in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology, and an honorary professor of the University of Nottingham. He received his Ph.D degree at Nanjing Tech University in 1988. Driven by the need of development of process and energy equipment, he has been searching for knowledge in thermal effect on materials, structures and processes, and development of novel heat transfer equipment and relevant energy materials in particular for high temperature applications. He is an author of more than 300 papers with a total citation of 5800 (Google scholar) and received a number of distinguished awards, including China National Science and Technology Progress Award, National Invention Award, National Teaching Achievement Award, China Youth Science andTechnology Award, ASME Best Paper Award and so on. 

Professor Tu has been the honorary President of Chinese Pressure Vessel Institution since 2010 and the honorary president of Chinese Materials Institution since 2015. He is the Chairman of China Structural Integrity Consortium, Chairman of Asian Oceanic Regional Committee of International Council for Pressure Vessel Technology, a member of Senior Advisory Group of Forum for Engineering Structural Integrity, UK, a member of reliability committee of IFToMM. He is an associate editor of Applied Energy and a member of editorial boards of IJPVP, JMST, FFEMS, FME, Adv Mech Eng and so on.


博士、教授、长江学者(2001)、国家杰出青年基金获得者(2002)。

诺丁汉大学荣誉教授、国际压力容器学会亚太地区主席、国际机构学与机器科学联合会(IFToMM)可靠性委员会委员、英国工程结构完整性联盟 (FESI)高级顾问、中国机械工程学会压力容器学会荣誉理事长、材料学会荣誉理事长;担任Journal of Applied Energy, International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, Journal of Materials Science & Technology, Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering[4]  , Advances in Mechanical Engineering、压力容器、机械强度、机械工程材料、应用基础与工程科学学报等期刊副主编或编委。兼任中航商发航空发动机寿命预测联合创新中心首席科学家、上海市航空发动机工程技术研究中心技术委员会主任.

涂善东教授主要研究方向为高温强度学,先进能源材料与装备,倡导全面工程教育。发表学术期刊论文250余篇,先后获国家科技进步一等奖1项,国家科技进步二等奖3项,国家发明二等奖1项,上海市自然科学一等奖1项,国家教学成果二等奖1项;出版著作3部、特刊与文集(英文)16本。1990年获第二届中国青年科技奖,1996年入选国家百千万人才工程、2002年被授予中华全国归国华侨联合会“科技进步带头人”称号,获国家杰出青年科学基金,2006年获教育部荣誉长江学者称号。
