The 5th International Conference on Chinese Immersion Programs provides a platform for research scholars, leading administrators, and classroom practitioners from all over the world to share knowledge and expertise as well as discuss recent trends, best practices, and practical challenges on all aspects of dual/bilingual language education.
Scholars, administrators, and teachers are kindly encouraged to contribute to the conference. Examples of topic areas include but are not limited to the following:
Dual language education policies regarding programs, use of target language (e.g., translate languaging), implementation of these policies, and their impact on immersion programs.
Stakeholders’ identities concerning the perspectives, values, and commitments of program administrators, teachers, students, and parents.
Best classroom practices addressing student assessment, activity design, classroom management, culture teaching, community engagement, instructional strategies including project-based instruction, task-based language teaching, content-based instruction, performance-based language learning, proficiency-based language learning, etc.
Professional development involving supporting pre-service teachers, facilitating in-service teachers in their professional learning and growth in different areas such as curriculum design, classroom instruction, assessment design, and delivery, etc.
Development and maintenance of dual language or immersion programs (e.g., strategies for starting and sustaining programs, current situations, future trends, recruitment of teachers, parental involvement, etc.)
Use of technologies to implement distant Chinese language teaching (e.g., affordances and/or challenges, trends, tips, etc.)
Proposal Submission:
We invite submissions for 20-minute individual presentations for the conference topics (15-minute presentation and 5-minute Q&A).
Proposal Guidelines:
Your proposal should include a title, an abstract, and at least three keywords, specifically:
Title
Captures the readers’ attention and interest by giving them an idea of what the presentation is about.
Centered and written in boldface, Times New Roman, 16 pts.
No more than 12 words in length.
Case-Capitalize Each Word
Name, affiliation, and email
Include the presenter’s name, affiliation, and email information under the title.
Center and italicize the above.
Abstract
If it is a presentation about a study. Your abstract should include an introductory statement that outlines the background and significance of the study, the methodologies, as well as the major findings of the study.
If it is not about a study. Your abstract should address the following questions: (1) What is your presentation about? (2) Why is it an important topic? (3) How does your presentation contribute to the conference or the field of Chinese dual language or immersion?
Limit the word count to 250-500.
Do not write your abstract in the first person.
Do not cite any references, figures, or tables in the abstract.
Please proofread your abstract for any grammatical errors, typos, and missing punctuation.
Key words:
List at least three keywords or phrases in alphabetical order, separated by commas.
Abstract text and format:
Text should be written in English, Times New Roman, 12 pts.
It should be in a paragraph.
Line spacing should be single.
Page margins are 1 inch top, down, left, and right.

Quality of the abstract in terms of coherence, organization, and prospects for a good presentation
