在听力考试开始时，听到 Directions 时，考生就可以利用这段时间快速浏览选项，提炼选项中蕴含的有效信息。
1. 选项中会涉及到地名、场所名称、与主题相关的词等，有助于考生猜测事件发生的背景。
请看 2007 年 12 月真题第 23 题的选项：
A) She is thirsty for promotion.
B) She wants a much higher salary.
C) She is tired of her present work.
D) She wants to save travel expenses.
分析：通过 promotion, salary 和 work 可得出本对话的大致主题是职业，再联系两次出现的 wants,听力材料的主题或许与求职有关，并顺理成章地想到可能会谈到工作、岗位以及薪酬等信息。
2. 选项的细微差异之处是关注的要点。
请看 2014 年 6 月真题第一套第 13题的选项：
A) The 6:00 one. B) The 6:30 one.
C) The 7:00 one. D) The 7:30 one.
分析：这四个选项唯一的差别就是时间不同，所以在听的过程中要注意有时间的信息。
3. 找出重复性高的词，这些词一般是与主题相关的词。
请看 2007 年 6 月真题第 19 题的选项：
A) The hotel clerk had put his reservation under another name.
B) The hotel clerk insisted that he didn’t make any reservation.
C) The hotel clerk tried to take advantage of his inexperience.
D) The hotel clerk couldn’t find his reservation for that night.
分析：本题出现最多的是 hotel clerk 和 reservation，由此可知本题与酒店、预订的内容相关。
4. 注意含有概括、抽象含义的选项，此类选项可能涉及到主旨大意或判断推理的结论。
请看 2014 年 12 月真题第三套第 22 题的选项：
A) People came to see the role of women in the business world.
B) Katharine played a major part in reshaping Americans’ mind.
C) American media would be quite different without Katharine.
D) Katharine had exerted an important influence on the world.
分析： B、 C、 D 三 个 选 项 都 提 到 了 Katharine， B 和 D 两 项 总 结 概 括 了Katharine 的作用，根据这两项内容，再结合原文进行综合判断。
5. 正确选项往往与原文相似，或是原文的同义表达。
请看下面的例题：
A) Inadequate medical care.
B) Continuing social unrest.
C) Lack of food, water and shelter.
D) Rapid spreading of the epidemic.
分析：四个选项没有任何相同之处，从 Inadequate medical care, social unrest, Lack of food, water and shelter 和 Rapid spreading of the epidemic，可判断出本题的问题应该与某个地区的灾难或社会矛盾有关。
原文重现：

M: Well, since the beginning of the conflict, starvation, and lack of clean water and

6.每个选项可能都是原文的细节。
在四级考试中，命题人常把听力材料中的细节信息放到选项中去，设置成干扰项来迷惑考生。所以，这类选项虽然不是正确答案，但是有助于理解整个听力材料。
7. 选项与原文一致。
除了上述情况外，还有一种情况就是听到什么选什么，即选项与原文一致，这也是最容易得分的题。

B) Training consultancy.
C) Corporate management.
D) Information processing.
原文重现：

解析：女士的提问也是本题的问题，答案就在男士的回答中。女士问男士What's your line of business（你从事哪一行），男士回答说 We are a training consultancy（我们是培训咨询公司）， B 项与原文一致，故选 B。

The New Year in South Africa brings thousands of residents to the street for a colorful minstrel parade(吟游诗人 游行）.Brightly-costumed（服饰艳丽） marching choral groups （合唱队）celebrate a unique aspect of South Africa’s multiracial history.
Cape Town’s musical New Year’s tradition dates back more than a century, to the days when Dutch colonists brought slaves here from Southeast Asia. The slaves served as dockworkers（码头工人）, farm laborers and household servants. And, they were given one day off per year. Ethnomusicologist (种族音乐学家) Sylvia Bruinders at the University of Cape Town says the slaves took to the streets. The slaves copied European and American minstrels who visited the Cape. Eventually, a distinctive South African sound developed.
Today the minstrels are a holiday tradition among Cape Town’s mixed-race or “colored” residents, many of whom are descendants 代) of slaves. A downtown parade involves thousands of participants. Dozens of minstrel troupes （剧团）practice throughout the year.
