安省保守党政府宣布成立自闭症顾问小组
安省保守党政府继续就支持患有自闭症儿童和青少年的基金分配问题，成立了一个专门的专家小组。
省政府在结束了对自闭症儿童问题的公共咨询之后，由20名成员组成的小组将共同向儿童，社区和社会服务厅长Lisa MacLeod提供关于将咨询反馈纳入安省自闭症计划的最佳方式的建议。
安省打算将目前的资助水平提高一倍，以确保自闭症儿童得到适当的支持。“我们将继续听取病童家庭关于政府在自闭症计划方面，如何更好地满足自闭症儿童的需求，”Lisa说。 “这个顾问小组成员是由精通自闭症的专家组成，将会提供重要的建议和指导。”

TORONTO — Ontario's government continues to support children andyouth with autism with the creation of an expert panel on needs-based supports.On the heels of the province's autism consultations, the 20-member panel willcollectively provide recommendations to Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Children,Community and Social Services, on the best way to incorporate consultationfeedback into the Ontario Autism Program.
Ontario intends to double the current level of funding to ensurechildren with autism receive the appropriate supports.
"We continue to hear from families about how the OntarioAutism Program can better address the needs of children with autism," saidMacLeod. "This advisory panel brings together people well-versed on autismto provide important advice and guidance."
The panel will be co-chaired by former cabinet minister Dr.Marie Bountrogianni and the executive director of Autism Ontario, MargaretSpoelstra.
Bountrogianni is formerly the dean of the Chang School ofContinuing Education at Ryerson University and served as Ontario's minister ofChildren and Youth Services from 2003-05. Spoelstra has worked with the GenevaCentre for Autism and Autism Ontario and has been a member of the Order ofCanada since 2011.
In addition to the co-chairs, the autism advisory panel includesparents of children with autism, clinicians, autism self-advocates, serviceproviders, former public servants and others who have knowledge of andexperience with autism.
The announcement follows extensive consultations with the publicthrough telephone town halls and an online survey. The panel will discuss thefeedback from those consultations and expects to offer recommendations to theminister by September 2019.
"We have made reforms to bring about a fairer system, wherechildren aren't left to languish on waitlists for years," continuedMacLeod. "I look forward to the expertise of our panel members to helpensure that our needs-based component improves outcomes for children and youthwith autism."
