Jinan launches first batch of green trolleybuses

Jinan's first group of green modern trolleybuses entered service on the city's BRT on Jan 1, as part of a trial run. The buses, which will run on route K103, have zero emissions, making them a totally clean form of transport for the city.

1月1日，济南首批绿色现代无轨电车正式在快速公交系统（BRT）中试运行。这批“零排放”车辆将在K103路上运行，创造一种全新绿色出行方式。

第八届济南青年书法双年展开幕

Biennial of Jinan Youth Calligraphy opens in Jinan

The 8th Biennial of Jinan Youth Calligraphy opened in Jinan on Jan 4.

1月4日，“材料之美——第八届济南青年书法双年展”在济南开幕。

With the aim of displaying the beauty of traditional writing materials, the exhibition featured a total of 133 works created by a number of well-known calligraphers and young artists in Shandong province. Works on display included pieces of calligraphy and samples of printing paper, silk, linen, porcelain, pottery, wood, stone and ink.

此次展览为展现传统书写材料之美，展出了不少山东知名书法家及青年艺术家的共计133件作品。参展作品涵盖各种书法用纸、印刷用纸、绢、麻、瓷、陶、木、石及墨等。

Lanterns to shed light on Tang culture

A lighting ceremony for a lantern festival marking Chinese New Year is set to be held at the Fantawild Oriental Heritage, a large theme park in Jinan on Jan 12. A vast array of lanterns will be on display, entertaining evening visitors from Jan 25 to Feb 26.

1月12日，新春灯会的亮灯仪式将在济南大型主题乐园——方特东方神画开幕。大批花灯将于1月25日至2月26日在新春灯会上登场。

济南建设国家中心城市三年行动计划出炉

Jinan unveils 3-year plan to become regional center

A three-year action plan to establish Jinan as a national central city was released by local officials on Jan 5.

1月5日，济南政府发布了《济南建设国家中心城市三年行动计划（2020-2022年）》。

The plan includes measures to promote the construction of city clusters in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, build an efficient and convenient "one-hour urban circle" to share education and medical facilities, and promote links with Zhengzhou in Henan province.

根据这个计划，济南将推动建设黄河下游城市群，打造高效便捷的“一小时都市圈”，共享教育、医疗资源，并加强与河南郑州的交流合作。

Since 2010, the Chinese government has designated a number of "national central cities" tasked with driving development and economic growth in their regions.

自2010年以来，中央政府设立了一批国家中心城市，旨在促进各地区域发展和经济增长。
