A cluster of ancient tombs has been discovered in the eastern part of Jinan, the local archeology institute reported on July 7.
近日，济南东郊一在建工地发现古墓群。
The cluster includes 12 tombs dating back to the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), one from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220) and 12 from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
据悉，此次考古发掘不仅发现了12座元代墓，还有1座汉代墓、12座清代墓及若干年份有待进一步确定的古墓。
Eleven of the tombs from the Yuan Dynasty have exquisitely carved brick murals and the written evidence found suggest they belonged to a family surnamed Guo. The scale of the tomb cluster is the largest among the unearthed brick mural tombs of the Yuan Dynasty in the province.
专家从11座保存较为完好的砖雕壁画墓研究推测，这里居住了郭姓家族。该古墓群是山东地区已知最大规模的元代墓葬群。
Over 60 pieces of pottery and porcelain wares, bronze mirrors, copper coins and other cultural relics were unearthed during the excavation and they will help with the study of porcelain from the Yuan Dynasty reign in the region and the surrounding areas.
墓葬中出土陶器、瓷器、铜镜、铜钱等文物共计60余件套，可以作为元代晚期的标准器，为周边地区元代墓葬或遗址出土瓷器的断代提供帮助。
The eastern part of Jinan is also where the Daxinzhuang ruins were unearthed in 1950s. Daxinzhuang is the largest of Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC) archaeological sites in Shandong.
要知道，济南东部曾是大辛庄遗址的发现地，大辛庄遗址是目前山东已知面积最大的一处以商文化为主要堆积的考古遗址，也是中国发现最早、研究历史最长的商代遗址之一。
济南市现在在全省率先实行了考古前置，更加有计划性地来保护更多的文物。现在出土的墓葬群下一步究竟是要就地保护，还是搬迁保护，还是有其他的保护措施还需要专家进一步论证。
