双语话东林|第一任校长

Dear listeners, I am the leading reciter, Sun Chang from the School of Foreign Languages, Northeast Forestry University. Today, I will tell you a story of “The First President of NEFU, Liu Da” in both Chinese and English. 

大家好，我是领诵人: 东北林业大学外国语学院的孙畅,今天我将用中英双语讲述“东北林业大学第一任校长刘达”的故事。

Liu Da, was born in Heilongjiang Province in 1911. At the beginning of the founding of new China, Liu Da set his sights on the development of education with the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education. He founded NEAU, NEFU and Heilongjiang University.  

刘达，1911年出生于黑龙江省。新中国成立之初，刘达就以科教兴国的战略，把目光锁定在发展教育上，创办了东北农学院、东北林学院、黑龙江大学。

According to Wang Shilin, former secretary of the Party Committee of the University, although Liu Da had worked in many departments and positions in his life, he loved forestry education the most and cared about NEFU the most. At the beginning of the preparation for the establishment of NEFU, we needed no school buildings and no teachers. Liu  Da sought out the central leaders for money, goods and talents. He personally wrote to the director of the Northeast Forestry Industry Bureau, asking for cement and ash, and went to the south to hire teachers. Under his leadership, the school was built brick by brick, and many influential masters in the world were invited to the school.

据学校原党委书记王世林回忆，虽然刘达一生曾在多个部门、多个岗位工作，但他最爱的还是林业教育，他最关心的还是东北林业大学。筹建东北林学院的初期，我们要校舍没校舍、要师资没师资，刘达找到中央领导同志，要钱、要物、要人才。他亲自给东北森工总局局长写信，要水泥、要白灰，亲自到南方去聘请教师。在他的带领下，很多在世界上有影响的大师被请进学校。

Liu Da knows that forestry is a very practical subject, so he attaches great importance to the construction of practice and experimental base. Liu Da asked everyone to learn from the spirit of Nanniwan, to open up land, to“enter, stay”, When spring ploughing began, in the absence of machines ang horses, the people of NEFU gave full play to the spirit of “people pulling the plough when conditions permit and when conditions do not permit”. Ten people pulling the plough and one helping the plough completed the tasks of ploughing and sowing, laying a foundation for the development of the forest farm.  

刘达深知，林学是实践性很强的学科，所以十分重视实习、实验基地建设。刘达要求大家学习南泥湾精神，开荒种地，要“进得去，待得住”。春耕开始后，在机器和耕马不足的情况下，东林人发挥了“有条件要上，没条件也要上”的“人拉犁”精神，十人拉犁、一人扶犁，完成了翻地、播种任务，为林场开发打下基础。

Principal Liu Da's foresight laid a foundation for the development of NEFU. Now Maoershan Experimental Forest Farm and Liangshui Experimental Forest Farm have become the bases for teaching, scienfic research and practice. Students in NEFU are also welcomed by he society for their good ideological quality, solid basic theory and strong practical ability. The spirit of “people pulling the plow”at the beginning of the school has been infused into the blood of NEFU people, nourishing generations of NEFU people to struggle in difficulties and never foget their original aspiration in moving forward.  

刘达校长的高瞻远瞩给东林打下了发展的根基，现在帽儿山实验林场、凉水实验林场已经成为东林的两颗明珠，成为教学、科研、实习的基地，东林学子也以思想素质好、基础理论实、动手能力强而受到社会的欢迎。而建校之初的“人拉犁”精神更是浸入东林人的血脉，滋养了一代又一代东林人在困境中砥砺奋斗、在前行中不忘初心。
