集美·阿尔勒国际摄影季 | 中国律动：160118 - 170811
“2017 集美 · 阿尔勒国际摄影季”将于 11 月 25日开幕，呈现共计30多个展览版块，覆盖摄影作为当代艺术一个重要组成部分的方方面面。“集美 · 阿尔勒国际摄影季”将陆续推出展览单元简介。
2016集美·阿尔勒国际摄影季中国律动单元邀请策展人杜曦云，贺婧，沈宸，鲁小本，将在技术革新的时代，探索影像生产和传播的新方式。

博主BrokenIce在自己的业余时间里，会带上照相机在老北京的街头溜达，他还有一个请求：“请告诉我一件真事儿和一件假的。”这是个简单却能产生显著效果的设想，永远有效。被命名为“BrokenIce”的项目实际上是一个微信订阅号，里面是他的那些街头发现，按发布日期命名。除了在街上的观察、带着模特们衣着细节的全身照片，还会有他们的回答。哪一部分是真的，哪一部分又是假的，往往没有说明，给人物又增加了新的层面。
这组作品旨在向那些远离大众的人们致敬。因为对这一现象有着极其浓厚的兴趣，BrokenIce开始关注北京街头和胡同里的各色（中老年）居民。真实的个性往往通过他们自身的衣着就能体现出来，他们不会为了表达一个时髦的观点，而产生自相矛盾的想法。BrokenIce觉得：“当说起穿衣打扮，我被他们的不经意与自发性深深地迷住了。而且对我来说，他们才是真的有自己风格的人，因为他们手里没有什么时装图录，没有追随一个特定的形象，他们也不会去赶时髦。”从更宽泛的角度来看，这样一种对于真实性的追寻，可以被视作是对变化中的社会的一种反映。事物在看起来和其实际之间的分别是模糊的，对于纯粹与真实的渴望正在增长。
与摄影师刘涛还有223这些在网络上开始职业生涯的摄影师一样，BrokenIce没有接受过专门的摄影培训或者有任何举办展览的经验。他决定把自己在摄影上的探索分享到网络上。他是一位非常有意思的博客摄影师，与当代摄影/艺术界保持着距离。但这并不只是业余摄影师们常会有的那种谦虚态度。一方面，将诸多照片配上文字、视频和音乐的可能性（而且这么做是免费的），大大降低了办一场实体展览的吸引力；另一方面，当代艺术界自命不凡的态度也使得这些人退避三舍。一场真实的展览（或者说，平面的展览）看起来总是那么的遥不可及。
值此机会，作为策展人，我向大家介绍BrokenIce首次“真实的”独立个展。标题取自他在2016年1月18日到2017年8月11日的部分作品。我们也一起探索了将网上作品转译到平面的可能性。除了展示这批作品，我也将这次展览视作一场实验：我们如何把一场摄影展的标准范式加以拓展。

In his spare time blogger BrokenIce hits the street of old Beijing armed with a camera and one request: “Tell me one thing about yourself that is true and one thing that is not true.”. It’s a simple concept, consistently executed, that led to remarkable results. The blog, or actually a wechat subscription under his name BrokenIce, is a collection of his findings on the street titled according to the date of the post. It combines observations on the street and full body portrait photographs with detail shots of the outfits and answers given by the models. Which part of the answer is true and which part isn't often stays undefined adding an extra layer to portraits.
The works are a tribute to people who stand out in the crowd. A fascination with this phenomenon drove BrokenIce to a diverse group of (senior) citizens in the streets and hutongs of Beijing. Authentic characters who express themselves through their clothes without a self-contentious idea to make a fashion statement. BrokenIce: “I’m mesmerised by their carelessness and spontaneity when it comes to dressing up. And to me, they’re the ones who are truly cool and stylish, because they don’t have a lookbook in hand, they don’t have a prototype to follow, and they’re not taking rides in no bandwagons”. In a wider perspective this search for authenticity can be seen as a reflection upon a changing society. One in which the distinction between the way things look and the way they are is blurred and a desire for pureness and authenticity is growing.
Similar to photographers like Liu Tao and 223 who started their career online, BrokenIce has no particular photography education or background of making exhibitions. Instead he decided to share his photography explorations online. He is an interesting example of the type of blogging photographer who feels a distance to participate in the contemporary photography/art world. That is not just a modest attitude often felt by amateur photographers. On one hand the possibilities to combine multiple photographs with text, video and music in an accessible way (for free) make it less attractive to make a physical exhibition. On the other hand it’s also apretentious attitude of the contemporary art world that scares them off. A real exhibition (read: print exhibition) is considered a bridge too far.
As a curator I have taken this opportunity to offer BrokenIce his first “real” solo exhibition. The title is based upon the selection of works made between 18th January 2016 and 11th of August 2017. Together we have explored the possibilities to translate the works from online into print. Beside showing the quality of the works I took this show as an experiment of how we could stretch standard patterns of photography exhibition making.

鲁小本是一位摄影师、编辑、策展人和收藏家，他和搭档Thijs grootWassink组成WassinkLundgren小组并以此为名义从事艺术工作。他们的工作项目包括书籍、展览及摄影策展。他们共同编撰了十数本书籍，包括《WassinkLundgrenIs Still Searching》(2006)，《Empty Bottles》 (2007)，《Tokyo Tokyo》 (2011)，和《Hits》 (2013)，该作品是他们在阿姆斯特丹摄影博物馆举办个展期间发行的画册。他们还与马丁·帕尔一到编辑了《中国摄影书集》（2015），展示了从1900至今的中国摄影书籍出版历史。他们曾获得多种奖项，包括2007年阿尔勒摄影节图书奖最佳当代摄影书籍奖，以及中国学院奖（2010）。鲁小本主要生活在北京，受艺门画廊代理。
About the curator:
Ruben Lundgren (Hilversum, the Netherlands, 1983)
Ruben Lundgren is a photographer, editor, curator and collector who works in collaboration with Thijs groot Wassink under the name of WassinkLundgren. Their work together includes book projects, exhibitions, and photography commissions. They have produced over a dozen books, including WassinkLundgren Is Still Searching (2006), Empty Bottles (2007), Tokyo Tokyo (2011), and Hits (2013), acatalogue published on the occasion of their solo show at FOAM, Amsterdam. Together with Martin Parr they edited “The Chinese Photobook” (2015) showing a history of Chinese photobook publishing since 1900 to the present. They have received several awards, including the Prix du Livre at Rencontres d’Arles (2007) for best contemporary photobook and the China Academy Award (2010). Lundgren is based in Beijing and represented by Pékin Fine Arts Gallery.
