“空间人文”系列讲座第六讲

6th of the Spatial Humanities lecture series

Prof. WANG Xinyuan and Dr. LUO Lei from Aerospace Information Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) will be invited to deliver a guest lecture on the 5th class of the “Space Humanities and Digital Humanities” English course in the autumn semester of the academic year 2020-21 in School of Architecture, Tianjin University.

The contents will be divided into three parts:

1.Earth observation and understanding of cultural heritage 文化遗产的空间观察与理解2.Space detection and archaeology on cultural heritage 文化遗产的空间探测与考古3.Big earth data facilitating World Heritage conservation and sustainable development 地球大数据服务世界遗产保护与可持续发展

The Guest Speakers

WANG Xinyuan 王心源

Prof. WANG Xinyuan, Researcher of the Aerospace Information Research Institute of CAS, and Deputy Director of International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage under the Auspices of UNESCO (HIST). Prof. Wang has been in charge of or participated as a key member in more than 30 projects such as “National Science-Technology Support Program” projects, “National Key Basic Research and Development (973) Program” projects, “State High-tech Research and Development (863) Program” projects, Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects, and so on. He has published more than 130 research papers and academic works. His main research fields are digital heritage, space archaeology and physical geography.

王心源教授，中国科学院空天信息创新研究院研究员、博士生导师，联合国教科文组织国际自然与文化遗产空间技术中心（HIST）副主任，国际数字地球学会（ISDE）中国国家委员会数字遗产专业委员会主任委员，数字“一带一路”国际科学计划世界遗产工作组联合主席，国际古迹遗址理事会会员，中国古迹遗址保护协会常务理事，国家林草局世界遗产专家委员会委员。主要研究方向为数字遗产、空间考古、自然地理。

LUO Lei 骆磊

Dr. LUO Lei, Associate Researcher of the Aerospace Information Research Institute of CAS. His research fields are space archaeology, remote sensing application in natural and cultural heritage, and the historical geography of the Silk Road.

骆磊博士，中国科学院空天信息创新研究院副研究员。主要研究方向为空间考古、自然-文化遗产遥感应用、丝路历史地理。

Course Introduction

The English course "spatial humanities and digital humanities" for international students in master and PhD programmes in School of Architecture of Tianjin University is a parallel course to her sister Chinese version in the spring semester starting from the academic year 2019-20. The twin courses are one of the first courses on similar topics provided around the world.

The course is focusing on the international academic trend of digital approaches in social and humanities studies for investigating interactions between space and people, which means place(s) in planning, architecture, landscape, geography and other social and humanity fields. Applications of digital technologies in history, archaeology, arts, literature, religion, and so on will be introduced. GIS, text mining, social network analysis, data visualization with case studies in different social and humanities fields will be mentioned.

"Spatial humanities and digital humanities"是天津大学建筑学院全英文研究生课程体系中提供给三个专业的硕、博士国际学生的选修课（也开放予其他体系研究生修读），与于2019-20学年春季学期首次开设的“空间人文与数字人文”硕士选修课（S2068057）作为孪生姊妹课程，是学术界最早开设的“空间人文”（spatial humanities）课程之一。
