with Mt.Fanjingshan
In the southwest heartland of China, there is a magical land - Guizhou, where the mountains, waters, forests are all the uncanny workmanship of nature. In addition to the picturesque natural scenery, over 48 ethnic minorities live here for generations and this has endowed Guizhou with mysterious ethnic villages and unique minority culture.
In 2016, the French documentary "Rendezvous in an unknown land" mirrored the French actor Clovis Cornillac's journey to the Miao community living in Guizhou province, southwestern China was seen by 5.2 million viewers on the France 2 TV channel, which gets the hidden ethnic villages of Guizhou known by more and more people. Two years later in 2018, the UNESCO announced that Fanjingshan (Mount Fanjing) in Tongren, northeastern Guizhou was listed in the World Heritage Lists for its profound Buddhist culture, biological diversity and epic summit views.

Day 1
Tongren Arrival
Please make your own way to Tongren Fenghuang Airport. Upon your arrival, the local English speaking tour guide and driver will pick you up from the exit gate by holding a welcome board with your name. After collecting all tourists at the airport, drive to Jiangkou country overnight.

Day 2
Mt.Fanjingshan Tour
After breakfast, you will head to the exciting Mt.Fanjingshan and start the exploration!
Mount Fanjingshan is the main peak of the Wuling Mountains in Tongren City, Guizhou Province, lying on the juncture of three counties of this city. Boasting the awe-inspiring mountain views, time-honored history of Buddhism worship as well as the rich resource of plants and animals, Fanjingshan National Nature Reserve has been listed as UNESCO in 1986. Since then, much more fame and increasing visitors follow.
Getting off the cable car, there is about 40 mins’ hiking to the Mushroom Stone, an incredible masterpiece of the almighty nature. Fitting its name, the stone is in the shape of a mushroom-the gigantic quadrate head is propped upon the slender column-like body, triggering concern from visitors if the large head is going to fall in the next second. No! listening to the explanation from the tour guide, you will open your mouth wide and astonish that the Mushroom Stone has been standing there firmly for a billion years no matter how heavily natural disasters happened to it. The epic destiny of the Mushroom Stone entitles it the fame of the landmark of Fanjingshan Mountain.
Going through the Mushroom Stone, you will head forward to the Old Golden Summit, the highest point in today’s trip. Please get mental and physical preparation well as the next hiking would be a challenge. The dramatic trail against the ax-cleaving mountain narrows down to the summit when you look up, causing your rapid heartbeat and firm grasp again to the iron chain on the sheer cliff…It’s a real adventure! Finally, stepping on the Old Golden Summit, the breath-taking scenery will loosen your tense muscles up that the roaring sea of clouds, bathed in the pale gold light of sun, is rolling in and approaching to you.
Cheng’en Temple is located at the Pudu Square between the Old Golden Summit and Red Cloud Golden Summit (New Golden Summit). Built-in Ming Dynasty, the temple helps Fanjingshan Mountain gaining the title of one of “Five Great Buddhist Temples” with its long history and an endless stream of pilgrims.
It’s the same sheer for the way to Red Cloud Golden Summit, please grasp the iron chain firmly and watch out the steps. If you ever watched videos or magazines of Fanjingshan Mountain, you must have seen the shots of Red Cloud Golden Summit. The giant stone column roots deeply in the ground but split into two parts on the top. Two temples stand on the flat of each side with one worshiping Sakyamuni while another worshipping Maitreya. That’s the masterpiece of nature. However, human adds more miracle to the incredible place: a stone bridge connects the two flats, enabling you to visit the two temples together. Overlook from aerial photos provides the best angle to catch the full view of the mix of human and natural wonder.
After “wow” times and crazy clicks on your camera, you will end the sightseeing today and descend to the mountain foot in the same way by cable car and shuttle bus.
After the hiking, if time permits, pay a short visit to Zhaisha Dongzhai Village, located around 3 kilometers from Mount Fanjingshan, which is a local village of Dong ethnic group where you would have a chance to experience the real local culture and food.

Day 3
Tongren Departure
This morning, you will take a leisure sightseeing in Yamugou Scenic Area. Walking along the canyon to enjoy the beautiful scenery of streams and grass on the shore-side. The scenic area also includes a rural-style gallery, a shopping street, and a Tujia-style park. Here, you can enjoy the original natural scenery and authentic Tujia culture.
Later, continue your visit to the ancient "Miao King City", a well-preserved ancient Miao Fort integrating politics, economy, culture, military heritage, and architecture. The fort features stilted buildings with Miao characteristics. You can learn about the history and culture of the Miao people. It is a decent place for a cultural landscape. You can walk around the fort, take photos and experience the ancient stilted buildings and Miao building.
After the visit, you'll drive to Tongren Airport for departure.
