Writing this I'm overflowing with feelings of joy, excitement and extreme gratitude. For years I had drafts of pages from this project hanging on the wall in my studio. Constantly staring at these drafts thinking, reflecting, contemplating while working strenuously on numerous other projects.
After getting all the content ready, putting hours and hours of work in, a period of endless editing ensued and countless samples were printed.

But this is it.

The moment I have been waiting for (like 5 years?).
I'm SUPER ecstatic.

I can announce that.....my BOOK is here!

This project took really hard work and I'm so proud of the result.
I created a book I would love to read myself.
The book is a collection of things I've learned living in Beijing, illustrations depicting Chinese culture and scenes of living in China's capital from my perspective.

A description of the book:

"Liuba Draws Beijing" reveals glimpses of Beijing you don't see described in the classic travel guides. This illustrated memoir from Liuba, a foreign illustrator, is a collection of informative and humorous anecdotes representing the artist's personal perspective on life in China's capital. Experience the Asian metropolis through full-page watercolor paintings with delightful scenes of the old maze-like streets contrasting with the modern city skyline, early bird street food vendors servicing commuters, a winter snowfall panorama of the Forbidden City and the Great Wall under the star filled skies. Witty comments and detailed watercolor illustrated stories take the reader on a journey with the author who questions if there really is a tofu lake and wonders if there could be a villain's lair located on the top floor of a Beijing skyscraper?

A book full of illustrations containing 180 pages!

On Sunday, November 20 I will open an exhibition at Qiankun Space near Qianmen.

Please find details of time and location in the beginning of the post.
If you would like your copy of the book signed, please feel free to drop by!

At the exhibition you will have the chance to see work-in-progress material from the book, but also new paintings from "The Beijing Calendar 2023 - The New Edition"
Both the book and The Beijing Calendar 2023 will be available for purchase at Qiankun Space during the exhibition.

Right now the book is already available for pre-order on my WeChat Store.
Scan this code to go to my WeChat Store now.
Later the book will also be available in book stores, but also on Amazon for people abroad.

Thank you for all your love and support!

Liuba
