Re-release和Reissue两个词分别指再发行和再版,Rerelease可以指对在以前并未发行的作品进行再次整合出版,而Reissue是将原始版本(可能已有实体存在)重新整合或修正,再次印刷制作并发行,投放到市场。再发行和再版在现在的唱片业中很常见,不管是因为之前的版本太过稀少或是略显粗糙还是因为种种因素并未发行,任何一种原因都使得再发行与再版唱片显得尤为重要。对于收藏者和音乐爱好者来说,此类唱片是物美价廉的,对于CD来说,通常发售价从10-20美金不等,因为黑胶独特的收藏特质,其可能会因为各类噱头而产生价格波动(例如每年RSD的各类发行),这也无可厚非。
在近些年的Hip Hop唱片市场中,除了每年都会被发行的各类新唱片(可能是老面孔、新人或是独立艺人),还有一类Hip Hop再发行与再版也逐渐吸引了很多人的注意;在现在独立Hip Hop的重镇欧洲,有一些独立Hip Hop厂牌在身体力行的为他们所热衷的文化出着力,其中Back 2 Da Source Records就是其一。
这个厂牌一直在发行各类90年代的Hip Hop专辑(CD+Vinyl)和单曲/EP(12寸黑胶),他们发行的唱片往往是一些艺人在90年代未发行的歌曲或是稀有唱片的再版(以不同形式呈现)。与一些粗劣的再发行不同,Back 2 Da Source的唱片都设计精良,并在音频上下了很大功夫,他们每张都会有专业人员去做Remaster,使音色变得细腻,音轨之间更顺畅。
出于一种“好奇心”,我联系到了Back 2 Da Source Records的主理人Bee Lapointe,做了一个简短的采访,想让他以一个从事者的角度去聊聊Hip Hop、Diggin和他的厂牌。以下内容为我与Bee的对话,为了还原采访,我不会对他的原意进行修改与加工。
笔者:Who is Back 2 Da Source Records?(Back 2 Da Source Records是做什么的?)
B2DS:An Indie Hip Hop label from Belgium. I started this label in 2014 with the intention to keep & preserve what was called the Real Hip Hop Music. I was inspired at the time by people/labels like Chopped Herring, DWG, Sergent Records, Dope Folks to mention a few and I thought we weren't enuff to do those moves for the culture for the world so I launched this label. Also i couldn't forget my Hip hop army who joined the team as time went on, Mike Cole (A&R), Pascal Ross Marquette (Design lay out), Nerco Black (Graff), Peter Eeckelaert (Design lay out), Michel Mees (Hip Hop Entreprise Records, friend and investor), Pacoje K7 (K7 Pacoje records, design lay out), Dé L'Archiviste (Larchiviste Records, mastering), Vincent Ternest (Wax Flowers, mastering), Danny (Noiseman, mastering), Jee Van Cleef (mastering). It wouldn't be the same without them all, we ONE BIG Family.
B2DS:Back 2 Da Source Records是我在2014年秉承着传承Hip Hop的宗旨成立的独立Hip Hip厂牌,来自比利时。那个时候我深受另外的一些厂牌的影响,例如Chopped Herring Records,DWG,Sergent Records和Dope Folks等,我认为我应该接过他们的火炬也为这个文化做些什么,所以我成立了这个厂牌。同时我也要感谢在途中加入团队的所有人:A&R的Mike Cole、设计排版的Pascal Ross Marquette和Peter Eeckelaert、绘图的Necro Black、投资人Michael Mees(同时是好朋友以及Hip Hop Enterprise的主理人)、K7 Pacoje Records的Pacoje K7、Mastering的Dé L’Archiviste(Larchiviste Records)和Vincent Ternest(Wax Flowers)、同样为Mastering的Danny(Noiseman)和Jee Van Cleef。我们是一个大家庭,没有他们这一切将不复存在。
笔者:Why entering this game at the first place? What is your initial intention?(为什么要做这个厂牌?最初的用意是什么?)
B2DS:Love & Love, Luv was the only reason. God has missions for us all, those releases could be the trumpets if you know what i mean
B2DS:一切都源于热爱。我们生而为人都是有使命的,我们发行的这些唱片可能像鸣钟一样吧。
笔者:How do you feel about the music industry in the recent years?(你对近些年的音乐圈有什么看法?)
B2DS:Well, 2018 was a really DOPE year, prob one of the best since a longtime, it was cool to feel a kind of real art revival so respect to the ones who were/are keeping it Real. I know I'm a very very selective mothafucka and if you ask me about the trap games for instance I'm totally against it. Don't take it wrong, I love the diversity for its the jewel of this existence but this doesn't explain why we don't tend towards perfection and beauty just like it used to be ? Maybe Music is a reflexion of the state of this world ! But of course Hip Hop can be wider than just consciousness seriousness we can have fun too, but I take this rap serious like GURU (RIP) said thats what defines me and my brothers know about my feelings. Its just an observation, I think times are crucial we are livin in a new era and the old world is dying, so theres' no better function to this music and culture than the freedom behind it and the revolution/revelation + real justice on Earth. Thats why Hip Hop is a good way to transmit those subliminal positive messages if you ask me. No time to waste, we should act quick raise the consciousness thru the musical vibes that are the lyrics, beats that work in synergies, all of this is the medicine even mixed with gangsta lyrics, its DEEP all is linked. We do it in our humble ways like in order to lead this world to a revolution that will lead to a real justice equality & freedom FOR ALL. You gotta be ready to lose everything and keep the intention as Pure as possible, because we on a mission and its a divine one. Please stay Love, Be Love and please do know that the Knowledge will break the chains around our feet and necks, its coming, talk is cheap tho, and we will have to fight. We need some actions and if Hip Hop culture can play even a small part for a better tomorrow, lets do it. Please don't be scared of my words I can be funny too but its time soon, you will see...Life's DEEP you know.
B2DS:在我看来,2018年是近些年来最出彩的一年了,我感到了一种音乐上的复兴,所以对那些还在坚持自己的人我表示尊重,我深知自己是一个极其死板严格的人,如果你问我对Trap音乐的看法的话,我只能说我是无感的。不过也别别误解我,我也同样希望看到Hip Hop的多样性,但我还是不不太理解为什么我们不再像以前那样,向往更完美的作品了呢?音乐真的就是每个时代的映射吧。我同样相信Hip Hop音乐是多种多样的,它不应当全是严肃的有觉知的,也可以有高高兴兴的那种,但就我个人而言,我对待Hip Hop是很认真的,就像Guru(RIP)曾说的“Hip Hop塑造了我”的感觉一样。我的观察是,在新的社会逐渐成型的同时,旧的世界正在消逝,所以这个时刻Hip Hop应该是给这个社会带来变革以及真实的揭露的。这也就是为什么Hip Hop是传递这些潜意识积极信息的好方式。我们不应再浪费时间,现在就一起行动去从音乐中提升社会的觉知力,也就是从歌词(甚至可以有一些所谓Gangsta的方面)+伴奏上着手,音乐很深奥,所有的部分都紧密相连。我们在用一种谦逊的方式去试图带起音乐上的革新,从而使得这个世界上拥有真正的平等与自由。你一定要时刻准备好去失去一切,同时你也要确保自己的是不是忠于初心,我们在世上都是有各自神圣的任务的。一定要在心中有爱与被爱的能力,希望你能相信知识是可以拆掉我们身上枷锁的钥匙,光说是没用的,我们得行动起来。如果Hip Hop可以为更美好的明天出一分力的话,为什么不呢?希望你们不要被我说的吓到,我其实是一个很风趣的人,只是生命是很深奥的。
笔者:What’s the story behind each release? Name one or two.(每张发行的故事有什么?举个例子说说。)
B2DS:Pudgee unreleased 92 98 was “funny”, it took 4 sound engineers in order to obtain the best audio results out of those dusty demo tapes it wasnt an easy job. On a darker side I had to face some issues like double contracts signed it with well know crews happened two times so far but as its a small world even if shit can happen shit can be fixed.
B2DS:Pudgee的Unreleased 92-98在出版的时候很有意思,因为母带的音质实在太差,我们有四位音频工程师一齐为这张专辑做后期处理,真的是不容易。另外对于一些发行我还要处理和一些著名团体的双重合同问题。此类问题目前出现过两次,不过也还好,问题都是可以解决的。
笔者:Which is the one release that you would recommend to the people who just get to know the label and why?(对于刚刚接触你们公司的听众来说,哪一张发行是你极力推荐的?为什么?)
B2DS:Very hard to tell my friend each releases contain tracks I dig a lot. Of course I got a special love for all the Tribal Music crew for his originality but i couldnt forget all the other releases.
B2DS:这个太难推荐了,因为每一张的发行我都是倾注了自己的心血。当然我对我和Tribal Music团队一起发行的两张都格外喜爱,因为Tribal Music的原创性很高,但其他所有发行我都不能忘怀。
笔者:What do you think of Diggin in general?(你对Diggin的看法是什么?)
B2DS:Digging is the mechanism of curiosity at work, curiosity is the mother of Knowledge, it means you exercise your curiosity thru your passion you want to know more you want to discover the hidden gems, you want to feed your Soul with its content. Diggin shouldn't just be an accumulation of material things, instead train your curiosity play what you buy feel the vibes get the message, elevate & fight !!!
B2DS:Diggin对我来说代表着一种强烈的求知欲,这种求知欲会引领你走向知识的海洋,这就意味着你想去了解更多,你想去挖掘那些未知的珍宝,你想去哺育你的灵魂。Diggin不应当是纯粹的物质积累,相反你应当合理的运用这种求知欲,播放你买到的专辑,感受音乐并了解其背后传播的信息,努力奋斗!
