张峥艳：在宁诺，你可以自己选择成为什么样的人

2019年的夏天，张峥艳正在为选择哪所大学而纠结。在参加招生咨询会时，宁波诺丁汉大学（以下简称：宁诺）一位在读学生的分享却深深触动了她：“宁诺是一个具有巨大可能性的地方，在这里你会有不一样的成长。”
在宁诺的四年，张峥艳拥抱自己的无限可能性，从初入校园的腼腆与内敛，变得敢想敢做，热爱挑战，充满自信……
“完美”的学习体验
就读于金融财务与管理专业，张峥艳用了“完美”一词形容自己的四年学习体验，“金融财务与管理专业提供了一个多元化的方向，让我们有机会尝试不同领域的可能性。”
张峥艳认为，大学时期需要明确两个目标：一是学业，二是职业发展规划。前者需要长时间的积累和沉淀，后者则需要自己主动探索与追求。
“我非常喜欢大一的一门课程叫做《商业管理导论》，里面介绍了各种各样的商业分析模型，这也初次激发了我对管理学课程的浓厚兴趣。”
对某一领域产生兴趣后，张峥艳就会付出额外的努力，更加深入地去探索。因为，兴趣是她最好的老师。在大二时还未接触到营销学课程，她便自己“啃”英文原版教材，一字一句把厚厚一本教材书消化吸收，这也为她后面申请该领域的实习打下了基础。

为了提升自己的职业发展能力，张峥艳参加了多个诺丁汉卓越奖课程，如商学院学生咨询课程，数字化转型课程、数字学术课程等。她笑称，“本来只需要30个学分的诺丁汉卓越奖课程，我却修到了40个学分，因为太有帮助了。”可以说，在这些课程的学习与实践中，她慢慢明晰了自己的热爱和未来发展的方向。
“负责商学院学生咨询课程的黄琳老师对我影响非常大，在这个项目中的学习成果使我非常顺利的在申请咨询行业实习生的众多优秀学生中脱颖而出。还有信息系统学副教授余捷老师，他深入浅出、寓教于乐的编程与数据科学课程，让我受益匪浅。”
在大三，张峥艳参加了图书馆开设的数字学术课程，她发现数据可视化或数据处理对于分析问题非常有效，这也成为她决定攻读商业分析方向硕士专业的重要驱动力。
在学业课程之外，张峥艳还热衷于参加多种比赛，在丰富自己经历的同时，提升自己对理论知识的应用能力。她所在的团队于2021 彭博全球交易挑战赛中取得亚洲第三的好成绩，在Ark Ingenuity 创业投资挑战赛中荣获二等奖。作为商科生，她还积极尝试了美国数学建模大赛。
得益于商学院丰富的学术资源和浓厚的实践氛围，以及自己多方面的探索尝试，张峥艳逐步明确了未来的目标。

在热爱中前行
大一与大二所接触的管理学知识，激发了张峥艳对商业咨询的兴趣。每年寒暑假，我们都会看到她奔波的身影。从上海到北京再到深圳，从在安永做项目兼职助理到在久谦咨询做研究分析师，再到在美好社会公益咨询社做项目顾问，张峥艳一路探索，一路成长。
由于对咨询行业的热爱，她还和校友前辈一起创立了UNNC咨询俱乐部，为对咨询行业感兴趣的同学提供职业指导、分析培训和实战实习的机会。
在英国诺丁汉大学的交换经历，让张峥艳更有信心去拥抱更大的世界。目前，她已决定前往美国南加州大学攻读分析学专业，希望在数据分析能力的赋能下，继续在商业领域寻求新的突破。

经历过多次实习，张峥艳向学弟学妹们建议：在找实习的过程中，要多多利用校友资源，关注学长学姐发布的职位，就是一个非常高效的途径；同时认清楚自己的能力定位，找到适合自己的赛道，切勿盲目海投。
回忆起这四年，张峥艳坦言最大的变化是在发现自我与挑战自我的道路上不断成长。
“在宁诺的学习和实践经历给了我一往直前的勇气和底气。凭借努力和强大的信念感，我可以决定未来走什么样的发展道路。我几乎从不对自己的选择后悔，因为我知道，每一步选择都是当下最期盼的，每一次经历也都是最宝贵的财富。”

Zhengyan Zhang: You can choose what you want to be at UNNC
In the summer of 2019, Zhengyan Zhang was struggling to choose a university. When attending an admission consulting session, a student studying at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) impressed her by sharing "UNNC is a place of great possibilities, where you will find different paths to growth".
Studying a BSc in Finance, Management and Accounting (FAM), Zhengyan Zhang used the word "perfect" to describe her four years of learning. She also explained that "FAM provides a diversified path in that we have the opportunity to attempt different possibilities."
Zhengyan Zhang believes that two goals need to be clearly defined at university: academic work and career development. The former requires long-term accumulation while the latter requires self-exploration.
"A module called Introduction to Business Management, which introduces various business analysis models, stimulated my strong interest in management for the first time."
After discovering her interest in a certain field, Zhengyan Zhang is always willing to put in extra effort and explore deeper on her own. For example, in her second year, before encountering a marketing-related module, she read the original English textbooks herself, internalising each thick volume word by word, laying a solid foundation for her future internships in the field.
Zhengyan Zhang participated in many Nottingham Advantage Award programmes to improve her career development, such as the NUBS China Consulting programme, Digital Transformation Consulting programme, Data Scholarship programme and others. Through these programmes, she found her passion and direction for future development.
"Dr Lin Huang, who is responsible for the NUBS China consulting programme, had a great influence on me. My achievements gained from this programme made me stand out from many other outstanding students who applied for the same internships in the consulting industry. Besides, I also gained a lot from the programming and data science taught by Dr Jie Yu, Associate Professor in Information Systems."
In her third year, Zhengyan Zhang also participated in the Data Scholarship programme offered by the library. She found that data visualisation and data processing are very effective for analysing problems. This also became an important reason why she decided to pursue a master's degree in Business Analytics.
In addition to academic work, Zhengyan Zhang was keen to participate in a variety of competitions to enrich her experience, achieving excellent results. Her team won third place in Asia at the Bloomberg 2022 Global Trading Challenge. She also participated in the Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling.
Thanks to the resource advantages of the UNNC and NUBS China, Zhengyan Zhang made her goals clearer and planned her future step by step, "I would make every small choice first and afterwards if I was proven right by these choices, I would then have the confidence to make significant choices later."
Every winter and summer break saw her shuttling across the country, from Shanghai to Beijing and then to Shenzhen. From working as a project PTA at Ernst & Young to working as a research analyst intern at Meritco Services, and then to working as a project consultant at Shenzhen A Better Community, Zhengyan Zhang made great strides in her growth.
Because of her passion for consulting, Zhengyan Zhang founded the UNNC Consulting Club with seniors, providing career guidance, analysis training and internship opportunities for students interested in the consulting industry.
The exchange experience at the University of Nottingham has prompted Zhengyan Zhang to embrace a larger world. At present, she has decided to go to the University of Southern California to study Analytics to continue to make personal breakthroughs in the field of consulting.
After many internships, Zhengyan Zhang suggested that in the process of looking for internships, one should make more use of alumni resources and pay attention to the positions posted by seniors. At the same time, it is important to recognise one's own positioning and find a suitable path.
