Artist(1955–)

徐冰，祖籍浙江温岭，生于重庆。1977年考入中央美术学院版画系，1981年毕业留校任教，1987年获中央美术学院硕士学位。1990年接受美国威斯康辛大学的邀请，做为荣誉艺术家移居美国。曾在美国华盛顿沙可乐国家美术馆、纽约新美术馆、布朗士美术馆、西班牙米罗基金会美术馆、捷克国家博物馆等重要艺术机构举办个人艺术展。1999年获得美国文化界最高奖：麦克·阿瑟奖（MAC ARTHUR AWARD）。

现为独立艺术家，生活工作于纽约。

在今天的任何一个领域，最有价值的部分其实都不在这个领域本身，而是在它的边缘地带，或者说在这个领域和其他领域的交接地带。而社会创意和社会创造力，包括一些看起来很低俗的东西，里面却存在着一种与我们旧有的技艺迥然不同的表达法，会给当代艺术系统输入新鲜的血液。系统之外有着取之不尽用之不竭的源泉。
