Topic: Earthquake Simulation using OpenSees: from individual buildings to urban areas
Description: This presentation will introduce the earthquake simulation from large-scale structures to urban areas using OpenSees. In terms of the individual structural level, solutions for the simulation of large-scale structures are introduced, including: (1) the multi-layered shell element for modeling of concrete shearwalls; (2) the modeling technology of large-scale structures; (3) the high-performance shell elements for large deformation simulation of shear walls; (4) the explicit algorithm to overcome convergence problems in collapse simulation; and(5) the latest implemented uniform damping model to provide reasonable damping. In terms of the urban areas, the MDOF shear and flexural-shear models, and their applications in seismic loss assessment, post-earthquake recovery simulation, etc., are introduced.
