CiteSpace adds CrossRef as a new data source

Experimenting with CrossRef. The data quality is uneven across publishers, but overall it is promising.

Here are some problems encountered:

Not all publishers provide cited references.

Not all references provided are complete, nor consistently.

Not all DOIs are resolvable.

Some references provide an author's last name only.

Author's last name and first name may appear in all sorts of order.
