CiteSpace:Options for Preparing Your Own Data
Options for Preparing Your Own Data for CiteSpace
Just responded to an email inquiry on preparing your own data for CiteSpace. I thought it might be useful to share it here. Please let me know if you have comments, needs, and/or suggestions.
Web of Science Format:
The best option is to convert your own data to the Web of Science plain text field-tagged format, which is the default data format used by CiteSpace. You can see examples in Demo 1's data folder.
RIS Format:
It seems there are many variants of RIS format, you may emulate Scopus RIS export format and treat it as a Scopus to Web of Science format conversion.
Using MySQL:
Another option is to construct your own data in MySQL at localhost and use CiteSpace data>import/export to export the data. You may need to add a few indexes to your tables to speed up the export. This option is suitable if you are familiar with working with MySQL database.
JSON Format:
I am adding direct search CrossRef as a new function in CiteSpace. I may also support JSON format as provided by one of the specific publishers such as Springer or Wiley, which I will decide when it comes to that.
