如何用英语安慰/鼓励别人
英语口语中的委婉表达法是一种常见的修辞手法。英语中有许多比较客气和委婉的说法,其修辞手段就是用一种令人愉快,委婉有礼貌的词语来代替令人生厌的粗话表达意思。还可以使请求、邀请、建议等显得婉转,容易接受。
与委婉相对的称为“直陈”(direct statement),直陈也能表达本意,但听起来不太客气,甚至冒失,使对方不易接受。
生活中谁都有遭受挫折、情绪低落的时候,在别人信心不足时安慰别人是我们应该做的。你知道如何用英语安慰别人吗?
英语中常用下面这些方式和语何表达对发生不幸的当事人的同情与安慰:
1.直抒同情之情。如:
I am (so/very) sorry to hear that.
听说那事我很难过。
I know how it feels.
我知道其中的滋味。
I understand how sad/upset/awful you must feel.
我知道你会觉得多么悲伤/多么难过/多么。
2.对发生之事作评论。如:
What a shame /pity!
真遗憾(真可惜)!
How annoying/awful terrible!
真气人/真糟糕/真可怕!
Bad/Hard luck!
真不走运!
3.劝当事人停止或摆脱不安或痛苦。如:
Don't worry.
别担心(别着急)。
Oh, don't think any more about it.
噢,甭再想它了。
Don't take it to heart.
别往心里去。
Cheer up.振作起来。
Come! It's OK.
好了,没什么。
4.为当事者开脱。如:
Well, you know it's happened to me.
你知道这事在我身上也发生过。
I should have done the same thing in your place.我
要是处在你的位置也会于出这种事来的。
You were just unlucky.
只是你运气不好。
It's just one of those things.
就那么回事。
It can't be helped.
这是没法子的事。
That's life. It could happen to anyone.
这就是生活,谁都会遇到那样的事。
5.告诉当事者事情尚未到不可收拾的地步。如:
It's not as bad as all that.
事情还不至于那么糟。
All is not lost.
还有希望。
It's not the end of the world.
这不是世界末日(这没有多大关系)。
6.劝当事者无需吃后悔药。如:
There's no need to get upset about that.
无需为此感到不快。
There's no point in worrying about that.
为那事担心毫无意义。
Let's not cry over split milk.
木已成舟,悔也无益。
7.劝当事者乐观起来。如:
Try and look on the bright side.
要看到光明的--面。
It'll improve.
会好转的(会改善的)
I'm sure it'll be all right.
我敢肯定一切都会好起来的。
