Meet Weng Cai, owner of ‘Yde’ farm

The small carrots in today's box are from Weng Cai. Last week he provided us with beet root. Here is a little background story of why we source from Mr. Weng and how his veggies are used to make delicious snacks and dishes such as hummus! 

Weng Cai owns ‘Yde’ farm in South Pudong, where he farms his produce according to organic principles. He started learning about organic farming in 2008, and bought his own farm in 2011.  

Mr. Weng uses natural compost to nourish his fields and plants instead of using chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Apart from supplying vegetables to western restaurants and Goma Greens' boxes, Mr Weng invites families to grow their own veggies on his farm. 

Food blogger Hanady Awada from  - that makes most of Goma Greens' recipes - has made many culinary creations with Mr. Weng's produce. Last week she used his beets to develop a creative roasted beet hummus topped with pistachio, goat cheese and honey. Yummy! 

Snack carrots are great to dip in hummus, tzatziki or baba ghanoush. See the video below for inspiration on how to make a delicious baba ghanoush.
