下面我们继续本周《新概念英语2》第20课的重点句型或语法的分享。先来读一读课文：
一、课文原文
Lesson 20 One man in a boat
Fishing is my favourite sport. I often fish for hours without catching anything. But this does not worry me. Some fishermen are unlucky. Instead of catching fish, they catch old boots and rubbish. I am even less lucky. I never catch anything – not even old boots. After having spent whole mornings on the river, I always go home with an empty bag. 'You must give up fishing!' my friends say. 'It's a waste of time.' But they don't realize one important thing. I'm not really interested in fishing. I am only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all!

二、重点句型或语法
本课主要学习动名词的用法。动名词是非谓语动词，动名词不但具有动词的特点，能够后接宾语，有时态和语态的变化，而且还具有名词的主要功能。
动名词在句子中可以作主语、表语、宾语、定语等。如：
作主语：Eating is always a pleasure.
作表语：My favourite sport is swimming.
作宾语：He likes playing chess very much.
作定语：She is in the sleeping car at the moment.
本课侧重学习介词后面的动名词用法，即：当介词后面跟着动词，动词变成动名词形式。如：
Are you interested in working for us?
I’m not good at learning languages.
What are the advantages of having a car?
How about meeting for lunch tomorrow?
当介词before和after后面紧跟动词，使用动名词形式，而不用动词不定式，如：
Before going out, I phoned Sarah. 而不说：Before to go out...
可以改成：Before I went out, I phoned Sarah.
又如：
What did you do after finishing school?
可以改成：What did you do after you finished school?
类似用法还有介词by，without等，如：
You can improve your English by reading more.
We ran ten kilometers without stopping.
