John Gibson：你估计的是正确的东西吗？——编辑视角【转】

John Gibson是 University of Waikato教授，有多篇以中国为主题的研究论文，同时也是Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AJARE) 的三个联合主编之一。这篇文章中他认为目前研究对研究设计（research design）与识别策略（identification strategy）非常关注，但是对测量误差（measurement error）、错误解释数据（misinterpreting data）关注度不高。作为经济学家，应该考虑研究方法的边际成本与边际收益。从这方面看，后者操作起来更容易、成本收益更高、更容易提高研究的可靠性与可用性。

以AJARE为例，他举了五个实例：

1. Using Latent Variable, Binary Outcome, Models with Continuous Data

2. Confusing Quantity Response to Price with the Quality Response to Price

3. Zeros, Tobits, and Unconditional Expected Values

4. Ignoring Spillovers when Studying Inherently Spatial Phenomena

5. Ignoring Complex Sample Designs
