Indoor 3D is the latest in the series of workshops dedicated to research and developments in the area of indoor spatial information. Indoor 3D 2017 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry involved in indoor mapping, positioning, navigation, 3D modeling, location-based services (LBS) and mobility.

With the rising urban population and the increasing complexity of cities as conglomerates of enclosed spaces, there is a growing demand for spatial and semantic information of indoor environments.

Navigational assistance for disabled and elderly people, route planning for emergency management, smart facility maintenance, disaster monitoring and prevention, gaming and tourism are just several of the direct applications of indoor spatial information.

Traditional 2D floor plans do not meet the requirements of many indoor location-based applications. 3D elements such as staircases, ramps, stationary and dynamic obstacles are very important for effective and efficient management, security and guidance in indoor environments.

Indoor 3D 2017 is organized by the ISPRS Working Group IV/5 in cooperation with WG I/6 and WG I/7 as part of the Geospatial Week 2017 (website: http://gsw2017.3snews.net), which will be held from 18th to 22nd Sept, 2017. 

Topics and Themes

Workshop domains include (but are not limited to):

· Seamless indoor/underground/outdoor 3D modelling

· Stationary and dynamic obstacle detection

· Multisensory fusion for indoor mapping

· Indoor localization and route planning for disaster management

· Location-based services in indoor/outdoor environments

· Innovative LBS systems and applications

· Aided mobility for disabled/aged people

· Disaster prevention, analysis and management in indoor/underground environments

· Smart facility maintenance

· Spatio-temporal data modelling, analysis of movement traces

· Indoor location-linked big data

· SLAM methods in indoor environments

· Semantic parsing in indoor environments

· Visualization techniques for LBS in indoor/outdoor seamless environments

· Indoor virtual/augmented reality

· Quality aspects and evaluation of indoor models

Paper Submission and Publication

High-quality papers covering one or more of the above topics should be submitted electronically using the conference tool on the submission webpage https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=indoor3d0.Authors are invited to submit abstracts or full papers for a double blind peer review process. The papers should be prepared according to the ISPRS guidelines for preparing manuscripts  (http://www.isprs.org/documents/orangebook/app5.aspx) and should not exceed 8 pages in length. Accepted papers will appear as a Volume of the Archives (abstract submission) or a Volume of the Annals (full paper submission) of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and the Spatial Information Sciences.

After the workshop, authors of selected papers with high quality will be invited to extend/improve their work and submit to a special issue on Indoor LiDAR/Vision Systems to be published by Sensors (SCI, IF: 2.033).
