The 29th International Cartographic Conference (ICC) Tokyo, Japan 15-20 July 2019

The Asia GIS Association is organizing special sessions on ‘Mapping and GIS in Asia’ in the 29th International Cartographic Conference that will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from 15 to 20 July 2019 to examine the challenges and opportunities of mapping and GIS in Asia and chart new directions for research and applications of GIS and mapping in Asia. The sessions also hope to foster collaborations and synergies between researchers and professionals in the research, teaching and applications of mapping and GIS in Asia. Special attention will be given to deliberate methodological issues that arise from the new data and analytics and discuss how recent technological changes can foster further development of mapping and GIS in Asia. The sessions are co-sponsored by the Asia GIS Association, “a non-profit, nonpolitical entity and has the objective of providing a forum to promote teaching, research, development, and applications of GIS and its related technology in Asia”. To participate in the special sessions on ‘Mapping and GIS in Asia’ of the Asian GIS Association in the 29th International Cartographic Conference, please submit your abstract via the ICC website (http://www.icc2019.org/papers.html) and, if possible, select "T43 Others" as the first field of review. The submission deadline has been extended to 31 January, 2019 for prospective participants of this special sessions. Once your submission has been successfully accepted by the ICC, please forward a copy of the confirmation (including the abstract number) to asiagis@whu.edu.cn.
