A special day at school
Imagine that you are standing on a stage with 300 people staring at you. You're stuck in the middle of a performance and you forgot what to do. It would be a total disaster! I once had a similar situation and interestingly enough, it became a very special day for me at school.
It was Dec 13, 2016, and our school had a charity concert and I was invited to play the piano. When it was my turn, I walked onto the stage with a lot of confidence. But since I hadn't practicing sufficiently, I forgot where I was when I played the 3rd part! My brain was completely empty, my heart was beating faster and faster. I felt like all the audience were staring at me and judging me. I was so embarrassed and almost ran off the stage. Suddenly I heard small cheers coming from my best friend. It made me calm down a little bit. I took a breath and I relaxed. After some quick thinking, I improvised a melody and finished smoothly. I bowed and left the stage, the audience applauded. Even if it wasn't the perfect performance, I finished it and it’s not too bad.
On that day, I learned that when you face the difficult situation, you have to be calm, be brave, think positive, try your best and never give up. Of course, I also learned that being fully prepared is also very important.
After that day, I had many chances to stand on the stage. Sometimes accidents happened and I always tried to use my experience to deal with them. I have to admit that I'm still nervous but then I am becoming better and better.
The lessons that I learned that day, playing the piano, help me improved each day. It was a special learning experience. Thank You!
