The Importance of Etiquette When Travelling Abroad
Knowing how to behave while travelling abroad is now becoming almost as importantas remembering to pack your passport. I would like to suggest two reasons why this is so. First, it is important to realize that we are not just lone travellers but representatives of our countries. A British tourist who offends Spanish local mores by acting in an impolite manner is also by proxy offending that country. And it is our nationality that will be remembered more than our personal identity. It is often said that "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." which means that tourists should adopt the local customs by behaving as local people do. Second, we should regard ourselves as guests of our host county. The Chinese are famous for being hospitable to "friends from afar" but how would we feel if our guests rewarded that hospitality with outright contempt for our society's civilized past and present by behaving in an uncouth manner. We would be rightly justified in evicting such "friends" from our homes. In conclusion, adopting local customs of etiquette when travelling abroad helps to give foreigners a good impression of our country and reminds us that we are honoured guests who should respect our hosts.
出国礼仪很重要
熟知国外礼节几乎与记住带护照一样重要。我想讲两点原因。第一，我们一定要记住，我们不代表个人，而是代表国家，这点是非常重要的。一位英国游客在西班牙冒犯了当地的习俗，这位游客做了不礼貌的动作，这也就意味着冒犯了整个国家。我们应该记住我们是代表国家，而不仅仅是个人。人们经常说，入乡随俗，意思是说，游客应该适应当地的风俗，行为要与当地人一致。第二，我们应该把我们看成是国家的客人。中国就有“有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎”的名言，但是如果我们的客人公然蔑视我们的文化，并做一些粗鲁的动作，你将会是何种感受呢。我们当然会把这样的朋友请走。总结，出国旅游时适应当地的习俗，这样做会给外国人留下好印象， 并让我们知道我们是尊重当地传统的上宾。
第47篇:成人教育
The Importance of Adult Education
Many people in the workforce are unhappy with their current salaries or career and consider a change or a betterment of their lives through discovering new avenues of industry. Adult education is on the rise. I personally hold that adult education is highly advisable and completely achievable and therefore is highly important. Firstly, adults starting a new or returning to school most often have found within themselves a strengthened desire to succeed. Studies have shown that 80% of adult students graduates as compared to a 50% average graduation rate among traditional students. Furthermore,adults have a bank of knowledge from life or work experience that can contribute to what they will learn in school. This is a fantastic advantage over their younger peers. Adults also view their professors as peers and are less intimidated by them, Last but not least, higher education for the adult is a life-changing experience. Most often, adults go to school to further their education in hopes of salary increases, chances for promotion, or they go to school for change, hoping to enter into a better field or pursue a field that they have a deep-rooted passion for. In conclusion, the importance of having adult education overshadows the difficulties in pursuing your degree later in life. Given that most colleges and universities have tailored their programs to fit adult student's needs and schedules, going back to school for adult education is feasible and highly advisable.
成人教育的重要性
许多人对自己的薪水或是工作不满意，并考虑换工作，他们想通过尝试不同领域来找工作。成人教育正在不断受到关注。我个人认为选择成人教育是可取的，它能够让我们有所成就，所以它非常重要。第一，对那些想重新开创事业，或是想重返校园的成年人来说，他们发现，他们很想成功。研究表明成人教育的毕业率为80%，而传统学生的平均毕业率为50%。此外，成人有许多生活和工作经验，这会叫他们在学校的学习事半功倍。这些成人学生有许多优势。成人会把他们的老师看成同龄人，并觉得胆怯，最后，成年人的高等教育是改变人生的一次经历。通常，成人上学都是希望获得更高的薪水、升职的机会、或是想让自己有所改变，他们想进入到一些更好的领域发展，或是追求一些他们真正感兴趣的领域。总结，成人教育的重要性已经胜过了晚期获得文凭的困难度。大部分的大学和学院已经改变了他们的课程安排，从而来适合成年人的需求和上课时间，重返学校是可行的，也是明智的。

The Importance of Traditional Culture
With the rapid onset of globalization,there is a danger of standardization where you would find businesses like Starbucks and MacDonald's everywhere replacing local companies and customs. I believe that while people generally, and specifically young people, welcome the new there is great importance in preserving and promoting traditional culture. First, traditional Chinese culture such as martial arts, Peking opera, Chinese calligraphy, tea culture, etc. have long been the common heritage of the Chinese people and have contributed towards a sense of national unity and pride, With the entry of China into the WTO and its emergence as a strong economic and trading force there has been a growing worldwide interest in China's history and culture. To meet this need,the government has set up over 100 Confucius Institutes abroad to showcase China's cultural heritage, Second, the government has recognized the importance of traditional Chinese festivals by shortening the May holidays and reintroducing ancient festivals such as Tomb Sweeping Day,and Dragon Boat Festival, These holidays help to remind people of a need to respect one's ancestors and to remember great heroes of the past. In conclusion, the development of Confucius Institutes abroad and the promotion of traditional Chinese festivals at home have emphasized the growing importance of traditional Chinese culture and its relevance today.

随着全球化的不断发展，标准化模式威胁到了我们的生活，星巴克，麦当劳这样的品牌随处可见，他们正在取代当地的企业和习俗。我相信大部分人，特别是年轻人都欢迎新鲜事物，但是，保护传统文化对我们来说至关重要。第一，传统的中国文化，例如：武术、京剧、中国书法、茶文化等都是中国的历史遗产，这些让我们更加自豪，更加统一。随着中国加入世贸组织，中国也成为了推动世界经济、贸易的主要力量，世界对中国的历时和文化也产生了浓厚的兴趣。为了满足需求，政府已经在全世界建立了超过一百所孔子学院，从而来宣传中国传统文化，第二，政府已经意识到传统节日的重要性,政府缩小了劳动节假期时间，重新引进了许多中国的传统佳节，如清明节、端午节，这些节日让人们更好地认识到尊重祖先，以及铭记历史人物的重要性。总结，孔子学院的发展，以及加大对国内传统节日的宣传力度都是为了让人们重视传统文化的重要性。
第49篇:体育精神
Good Sportsmanship Is of Vital Importance
Sportsmanship is a great tradition in sports and competitions that means playing clean and handling both victory and defeat with grace, style, and dignity. Today, quite a few athletes lack sportsmanship. I personally hold that good sportsmanship is of vital importance for both the athletes themselves and their offspring. Firstly, practicing good sportsmanship wins respect. When you win, the trick is to be a gracious and generous winner. Good sportsmanship means acknowledging victories without humiliating opponents, being quietly proud of success, and letting victories speak for themselves. Even if you win by a landslide,good sportsmanship means still finding ways to compliment your opponents. By demonstrating your respect to your opponents,you win respect from them too. Secondly, good sportsmanship teaches children how they should behave. Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from the adults in their lives,especially their parents and their coaches. Kids who see adults behave in a sportsmanlike way gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity whether they win or lose a game. A child who practices good sportsmanship is likely to carry the respect and appreciation of other people into every other aspect of life. In conclusion, sportsmanship is a manifestation of our own ethics in real life. For the sake of sportsmen themselves and the generation to come,good sportsmanship should be highly advocated.
体育精神非常重要

第50篇:守时
Punctuality Is an Important Virtue
To be or not to be punctual is a habit. We often fail to appreciate the influence of habits in our life. The habitual practice of being late is often due to a lack of concern of being on time. In my opinion, being punctual is an important virtue for all of us. Punctuality is essential for people from all walks of life. For students, it is a great blessing. If you are punctual,you leave a good impression on the teachers and classmates who may offer tremendous help in teamwork. In hospitals, punctuality can make all the difference between life and death. On the contrary, an unpunctual person generally causes inconvenience to others. A person who is always late shows selfishness and thoughtlessness, and he is not a person that most people want for a friend. Furthermore, just as Thomas C. Haliburton said,"Punctuality is the soul of business." Lateness is a sign of poor time management skills. When you are late for appointments, meetings or work, you show a lack of respect for other people's time as well as your own. If you want to be a successful businessman,being punctual is particularly important. Failing to arrive on time causes much inconvenience to the business and also to the rest of the staff. The failure to keep up an engagement punctually may mean a setback for the business. To sum up, punctuality being so important in life, it is necessary for everybody to cultivate this habit froth the very beginning.
守时很重要
守时是一种习惯。我们有时不重视习惯对于我们生活的影响。由于缺乏守时的意识，所以缺乏守时的习惯。我认为，守时是一种美德。守时对于各行各业的人来说都非常重要。对于学生来说也非常重要。如果你很准时的话，你会给老师和同学留下好印象，他们将会在团队活动中给予你更多的帮助。在医护行业，准时关系到病人的生死。相反，不守时的人通常会给他人造成不便。一个不守时的人通常会很自私，对事物缺乏考虑性，这种人很难交到朋友。此外，就像托马斯·哈利伯顿所说，“守时是商业的灵魂。” 不守时的人缺少对时间的管理技能。如果你约会、开会、上班迟到那么你将缺乏对他人和自己的尊重。如果你想成为一名成功的商人，守时是非常重要的。不守时会影响商业的往来，也会影响其他员工。不守时的人会影响工作。总结，守时是非常重要的，培养守时的习惯对于所有人都是非常重要的。
