Continental inks deal with Chinese AI startup Horizon
German supplier Continental AG signed an agreement last Wednesday with Chinese artificial intelligence startup Horizon Robotics to establish a joint venture in Shanghai to apply technology to smart vehicles.
The joint venture will integrate Horizon Robotics’ AI-enabled processors and algorithms into Continental’s smart cameras and control units for advanced driver-assistance systems and automated driving, Continental said.
The partnership will be majority owned by Continental and is expected to employ around 200 people, Continental noted, without disclosing its investment or stake in the new company.
It will serve automakers operating in and outside China, the German supplier added.
