By the power of young researchers

集青年学者之力

Anchored in this changing time, science and technologies matter; yet young researchers matter more. It is not simply that in time they will grow to be the next generation of experienced scientists, but that, at this point in their career, their fearlessness and ambitions make them driving forces of evolutional changes, adventurers pushing intellectual boundaries, and navigators in the big waves. That is exactly why we called out the inaugural Early-Career Editorial Board (ECEB) of Environmental Science and Ecotechnology.

时代浮沉，科学和技术至关重要，而青年学者更是中流砥柱。他们终将成为新一代科学家，他们学术生涯中闪耀的此时此刻，他们无畏的精神和远大的抱负，都将促使他们成为变革的驱动者、知识边界的破壁人和历史巨浪的弄潮儿。正因此，我们积极拥抱青年科学家们并组建了ESE首届青年编委会。

There is no doubt that environment-ecology-related issues have been pushed to the forefront of our time by hot topics such as carbon neutrality, biosecurity, environmental health, and sustainability. It is increasingly clear that the double-E field will continue to be evergreen in the future, evolving in scale and scope. As a young journal, Environmental Science and Ecotechnology is committed to playing an impactful and leading role in the double-E field, and our goal is rooted in the trust and efforts of those young visionaries.

毋庸置疑，生态环境领域的诸多研究方向，例如碳中和、生物安全、可持续发展等都已成为全社会瞩目的热门话题。生态环境这个研究领域使命长在，常研常新，各研究方向持续不断地蓬勃发展。年轻的ESE致力于成为生态环境领域高起点、高质量的国际学术期刊，并将这一远大目标深植于这些富有远见的年轻科学家心中。

Back in May 2021, during the recruitment of the inaugural ECEB, we received a total of 336 applications from more than 200 universities, research institutions, and technology companies of 29 countries. The recruitment was highlighted by the applicants’ broad international backgrounds and abundant career paths. In the end, more than sixty applicants stood out to serve on our inaugural ECEB. They who have generously confirmed to dedicate time and effort with ESE will broaden the diversity of ESE's community, as well as help ESE stay fresh and maintain the direction of sustainable growth.

此次青年编委的遴选工作共收到了336份申请，它们来自29个国家的200余所大学、科研机构和高科技公司。此次遴选的亮点之一是申请人们具备广阔的国际背景和丰富的学术经验。最终，六十余人脱颖而出，加入到ESE首届青年编委团队。他们郑重承诺，将倾注时间和精力到期刊建设中去，与ESE携手并进，助力ESE编委团队永葆生机与活力，助力ESE期刊健康发展可持续。

Those newly nominated ECEB members are considered, in our eyes, rising stars in the perspective of academic impact, international resource in academia, as well as (potential) contribution to the journal. Benefiting from their expertise, experience, and insight, ESE will be capable of publishing more comprehensive topics of articles and better positioned to fulfil its duty. I believe, riding on the wave of the ECEB members, together with our existing Editorial Board members, the still-young Environmental Science and Ecotechnology will lead forward to new, unexpected ways.

从学术影响力、国际学术资源、对期刊的潜在贡献等多方面来看，今年入选的青年编委们是冉冉升起的新星。受益于他们的专业、经验和洞察力，ESE将会发表一批更具原创性、交叉性主题的好文章。我相信，乘青年编委之浪花，聚青年学者之实力，生机勃勃的ESE期刊必将不断进取，行稳致远。
