1980年代末和1990年代初，中国当代艺术家开始在海外大型展览中崭露头角。1992年，在德国城市卡塞尔，一个名为“相互认识”的当代艺术展与第九届“文献展”同期举办。这个由卡塞尔大学“新陈代谢项目组”策划的国际大展邀请来自20多个非西方国家和地区的100多位艺术家参展，其中包括7位来自中国大陆的艺术家。笔者试图将“相互认识”展还原到1980年代末1990年代初德国乃至欧洲的历史和文化语境之中，结合富有对照意义的第九届“文献展”和“大地魔术师”展，通过挖掘展览图录、论文集、相关访谈、批评和报道文章等资料，考察“相互认识”这一在艺术全球化进程早期被学界忽视的展览。在此基础上，笔者还将结合中国参展艺术家之一吕胜中写于展览期间的笔记，回溯中国艺术家和作品在这个将中国当代艺术较早引入西方视野的大型国际展览中的位置。

Lecture outline: In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Chinese contemporary artists began to make their mark in major exhibitions overseas. In 1992, in the German city of Kassel, a contemporary art exhibition named "Begegnung mit den Anderen" was held at the same time as the Documenta IX. More than 100 artists from more than 20 non-Western countries and regions, including 7 artists from the Chinese mainland, were invited to participate in the international exhibition organized by the "Projektgruppe Stoffwechsel" of University of Kassel. The lecturer attempts to restore the exhibition "Begegnung mit den Anderen" to the historical and cultural context of Germany and Even Europe in the late 1980s and early 1990s, combine with the Documenta IX and the magiciens de la terre exhibition with comparative significance, by excavating the exhibition catalogues, essays, relevant interviews, criticism and newspaper articles and other materials, to investigate "Begegnung mit den Anderen", the exhibition neglected by the academic circle in the early stage of art globalization. On this basis, the lecturer will combine the notes written by Lv Shengzhong, one of the Chinese artists participated in the exhibition, to trace the position of Chinese artists and works in this large-scale international exhibition that introduced Chinese contemporary art to the Western horizon.
