Captain Ben Fawcett has bought an unusual taxi and has begun a new service.

The  taxi  is a small Swiss aeroplane called a  Pilatus Porter .

This wonderful plane can carry seven passengers.

The most surprising thing about it, however, is that it can land anywhere: on snow, water, or even on a ploughed field.

Captain Fawcett s first passenger was a doctor who flew from Birmingham to a lonely village in the Welsh mountains.

Since then, Captain Fawcett has flown passengers to many unusual places.

考查冠词的用法。此处表“一辆”车，所以要用不定冠词。

2.      serve → service

考查构词法。serve ( v. ) → service ( n.)。

考查过去分词短语作后置定语。此处called被动，相当于定语从句which / that is called a Pilatus Porter.

4.      填入 anywhere

考查不定代词的用法。后面 on snow, water, or even on a    5    ( plough ) field 提示我们“可以在任何地方降落”。

5.      plough → ploughed

考查分词的用法,。此处ploughed表示“被耕过的地”，所以不可用ploughing。

6.      填入 who

考查定语从句的用法。此处 who 是关系代词，指代先行词 a doctor，在定语从句中作主语。

7.      填入has flown

考查时态的用法。此处有时间状语 since then, 从那时到现在要用现在完成时。

8.       填入another

考查不定代词的用法。从并列的前句中 once （一次）可以看出，后面是“另一次”的意思，用于短语 on another occasion 中。

9.       填入from

考查介词的搭配用法。request from 是“来自某人的请求”，此处 request 是个名词。

10.  填入but

考查连词的用法。从后面的否定可以看出前后是一个并列转折。
