It could be worse
不幸中之万幸
First listen and then answer the question.

Had the writer's money been stolen?
I entered the hotel manager's office and sat down.

I had just lost $50 and I felt very upset.

'I left the money in my room,' I said, 'and it's not there now.'

The manager was sympathetic, but he could do nothing.

'Everyone's losing money these days,' he said.

He started to complain about this wicked world but was interrupted by a knock at the door.

A girl came in and put an envelope on his desk.
一个姑娘走了进来，把一个信封放在了他桌上。
It contained $50.
它里面装着50英镑。
'I found this outside this gentleman's room,' she said.
“这是我在这位先生的房门外捡到的，”她说。
'Well,' I said to the manager, 'there is still some honesty in this world!'
“是啊，”我对那位经理说，“这世界上还是有诚实可言的！”

（me为间接宾语，her dictionary为直接宾语）
🌸There isn't anyone in the garden.
花园里没有人。

但是我听到有说话声！
🌸Nonsense！There's no one there！
胡说！那里一个人也没有！
（否定词no比not any/anyone 语气要更强，但意义一样。
🌸Was it an exciting race？
比赛激动人心吗？
🌸Yes，it was.We all got very excited.
是的，我们大家都很激动。
（以-ing结尾的形容词一般与非人称主语连用，以-ed结尾的形容词通常与人称主语连用）
🌸I asked you to throw away that rubbish.
我叫你把那垃圾扔掉的。
🌸I've already thrown it away.
我已经把它扔掉了。（away为副词）
与动词连用的小品词如果能与动词分开使用，即它的位置可变动，那么这个小品词一般为副词；如果位置不可变动，则一般为介词。
🌸I'm looking for my sister.
我在找我的姐妹。（for 为介词）
