由哥伦比亚大学全球中心 | 北京和中国社会科学院近代史研究所共同主办的顾维钧档案第一次“重返故国”：展览暨学术研讨于2017年7月14日在哥大全球中心 | 北京圆满举行。本次专题展回顾了“中国外交第一人” 、哥伦比亚大学校友顾维钧先生的一生，并以此纪念七七事变爆发八十周年。
On July 14, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing and the Institute of Modern History of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences jointly hosted the exhibition and symposium: First Public Release of V. K. Wellington Koo's Archive of Personal Papers. The event is aimed to retrospect V. K. Wellington Koo and his legendary life and to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the July 7th incident.
“顾维钧档案数字化项目的部分成果终于在今天对公众展示， ”美中文化协会—百人会附属文化机构主席、顾维钧继女杨雪兰女士谈到。“我希望这些档案能在今后鼓舞激励一代又一代的中国人。”
"Today is the culmination of the first phase of this journey to make this archive available in China," said Shirley Young, Chair at US-China Cultural Institute, Cultural Associate of the Committee of 100 and V. K. Wellington Koo’s step-daughter. "I hope that the availability of the Koo archive in China will serve as inspiration to future representative of China to the world."
顾维钧先生生前口述的600万字《顾维钧回忆录》是研究中国近现代外交的重要资料，时至今日仍被中国外交官和历史研究者反复研读。此文献珍藏在哥伦比亚大学珍本手稿图书馆，内容包括顾维钧及其同时代人的来往书信、日记、备忘录、手稿、笔记、印刷资料、照片等。这笔档案多达近300箱档案盒，涵盖了其全部职业生涯。
V. K. Wellington Koo's six-million-words spoken memoir is now treasured at the Rare Book & Manuscript Library of Columbia University. The memoir contains Koo’s letters, diaries, memos, manuscripts, notes, printed documents, and photos. There are nearly 300 boxes of archives covering all of Koo's professional life.
2014年初，中国社会科学院近代史研究所、顾维钧家属与美国哥伦比亚大学共同合作，决定全部完整复制哥伦比亚大学藏顾维钧档案。经三方共同努力，顾氏生前捐赠给哥大的第一批档案250余箱，已全部由哥大图书馆完成高清扫描，中国近代史所科研人员完成档案的编目工作，第一次即将由上述机构开放给北京及上海的学者利用。
In early 2014, the Institute of Modern History of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Wellington Koo’s family members worked with Columbia University to copy Koo's archives. Columbia University Libraries have scanned the first batch of more than 250 boxes of files donated by Koo's family. Researchers from IMH have compiled the materials. For the first time, these materials will be accessible to scholars in Beijing and Shanghai.
“自建成以来的250多年里，哥伦比亚大学一直致力于鼓励哥大师生追求真理、敢于创新，并解决世界性的问题与挑战，”哥伦比亚大学副教务长兼总图书馆馆长安•索顿表示。 “哥大图书馆的全体员工都为能肩负复制顾维钧档案的使命感到荣幸，我们也希望顾维钧档案能从此传承并鼓舞全世界的学生学者。”
"For the more than 250 years since its foundation, Columbia University in the City of New York has been evolving, yet always ensuring that its students, faculty, researchers, and librarians contribute to advances in knowledge and innovation and help solve some of the world’s most difficult challenges," said Ann Thornton, Vice Provost and University Librarian of Columbia University. "All of us at Columbia University Libraries are honored to be entrusted with the responsibility for the Wellington Koo archive. Koo’s archive can now inspire each successive generation of students, scholars, and citizens all across the world."
