本届普利策奖共收到2996件评选作品，其中新闻类奖项共收到1217份作品，获奖者来自13个不同的新闻媒体机构，有7人为自由撰稿人。在今年艺术类奖项的评选中，评委们共审阅了1531本书籍，186件音乐作品和62部戏剧。
