At lunchtime I bought a huge orange —
午饭时我买来一个特大的桔子
The size of it made us all laugh.
大得令我们全都发笑。
I peeled and shared it with Robert and Dave —
我剥了皮，跟罗伯特和戴维分着吃
They got quarters and I had a half.
他俩各吃四分之一，我吃了一半。
And that orange, it made me so happy,

As ordinary things often do
就像最近，我时常开心于那些
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.
平凡的事情。购物。在公园散步。
This is peace and contentment. It’s new.

The rest of the day was quite easy.

I did all the jobs on my list

And enjoyed them and had some time over.

Wendy Cope was raised in Kent, England, where her parents often recited poetry out loud to her. She has published several volumes of poetry including Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis and Serious Concerns.

Reading a good book by lamp light in the dead of night as the room is bathed in a soft yellow glow.
▌自习课时写完一样作业，抬头望望喜欢的人，发现他刚好也在望我。
Finishing an assignment during a self-studying session and looking up to see that the person you like is looking back at you.
▌对什么东西多看两眼，就能被他察觉我想要吃的时候；
Looking longingly at a treat and your partner realizing you want it.
想他/她的时候他/她刚好打来电话；
Receiving a phone call from your loved one while he or she is on your mind.
随口说的一句想吃什么，第二天就能在餐桌上看见的时候。
Craving something that then magically appears on the dinner table the very next day.

Putting your cold feet into a steaming hot footbath in winter.
