敞亮！华为高管直面英国议会质询：我们对世界坦诚相待
6月10日，英国议会下议院的科技委员会在当天下午就英国电信基础设施建设举行听证会。
华为全球网络安全和隐私官约翰·萨福克（John Suffolk）在听证会上就华为设备的安全性及其与政府的关联性等问题，向英国科技委员做出解答。

这场“正面刚”大戏立刻上了微博热搜。
面对来自英国议会连珠炮似的质询，约翰·萨福克从容对答。表示华为从未被中国或其他任何国家的政府要求“进行任何不当行为”看视频↓↓↓
面对诸多偏见和略显刁钻的问题，萨福克的回应颇为可圈可点：
萨福克表示，华为致力于提升透明度：我们对世界坦诚相待（We stand naked in front of the world）。
From our perspective, we believe in complete openness and transparency. We want people to find things. It doesn’t matter whether they find one or 100. We are not embarrassed by what people find, whether it’s poor coding or poor engineering.
对我们来讲，华为主张完全的公开与透明，我们欢迎大家来找问题，不论是一个问题还是一百个问题都不要紧。我们不会因为大家发现了问题而难堪。就像有人之前提到我们的代码与工程存在问题一样。
We stand naked in front of the world. It may not be a pretty sight all the time, but we prefer that to hiding things. Because it enables us to improve our products, it benefits us.
我们对世界坦诚相待。我们不可能一直都是完美的，但我们还是希望能开诚布公，这可以促使我们提升产品，这对大家都有益。
一位议员直截了当地问道：华为能否获得用户通讯信息？萨福克表示，获得通讯信息，那是运营商才能做到的事……
We don't run networks; we provide equipment to the telecommunication operators, so they run the network. So we have no access to any of the data that is transmitted across that network.
我们不负责运营网络，我们只为网络运营商提供设备，运营商们来运营网络。因此我们无法获取通过他们网络传输的数据。
对于一位议员抛出的“你们的设备是否能跟踪我”（track my movements）的问题，萨福克是这样回应的：
So what does telecommunication do? It connects you with a base station wherever you are, in order to connect you to the network. And therefore, it does know where you are because it knows where the information is coming from.
你想一想电信通讯是做什么的就知道了。无论你身在何处，它会将你同附近的基站连接，从而使你与网络连接。因此它能够获取你的位置信息，因为它知道你的数据是从什么地方传输的。
So that way, telecommunications network from all vendors know your location is because they connect you to the network. There is no difference between Huawei's equipment and anybody else's equipment.
从这种逻辑上讲，所有运营商都能追踪到你的位置信息。在这个问题上，华为的设备与其他公司的设备并无二致。
萨福克说，华为一直在通过监控整个生产流程，建立责任划分制来减少技术漏洞。
Currently, Huawei manufactures only 30 percent of its products and accessories, while the rest are made through global chains. We regularly inspect the global chains by taking apart and inspecting the products manufactured by them.
在华为的产品中，只有30%的组件是华为自家生产的。其余来自全球的供应链。我们通过将工厂送来的组件拆开检查来监控供应链。
At Huawei, there’s segregating of work, so one person doesn't have access to all of the products. We do not provide free rein to engineers. We manage and control each part of the process. Cyber Security Evaluation Center is one of those controls.
我们建立职责划分制，因此一个人不可能拥有所有产品的权限。我们也限制工程师的权限。因此无论我们在哪里参与这个进程，我们都要对其建立管控机制。网络安全评估中心也是管控机制的一部分。
约翰·萨福克（John Suffolk）应对英国议会质询的精彩表现成功吸引了中国网友的注意。
不少网友发现，这位不卑不亢为华为辩护的英国大爷竟曾供职于英国政府。
的确，约翰·萨福克大有来头，曾担任英国政府的首席信息官，于2011年加入华为。
John Suffolk, former chief information officer (CIO) for the British government, joined China-based IT company Huawei as global head of cybersecurity in 2011. 约翰·萨福克是前英国政府首席信息官，于2011加入中国IT公司华为，担任全球网络安全主管。
据报道，华为在拓展其在发达国家的市场时，总是面临着来自这些国家的不断审查，于是设立了全球网络安全主管一职。萨福克也是华为首个全球网络安全和隐私官，直接向公司总裁任正非汇报工作。
当时华为曾表示：“萨福克的职责将包括监测和改善公司全球供应链的信息安全。”
