希腊前财长的这段视频火了：“中国可比美国人道多了……”
近日，希腊前财长亚尼斯·瓦鲁法基斯（Yanis Varoufakis）一段关于中国的言论在社交媒体上热传。网友纷纷表示，他太了解中国了。
2018年，他在美国做讲座时，有观众表示对中国在非洲的投资感到担忧，瓦鲁法基斯反问道，“这有什么问题？”
他说， 中国在非洲的投资建设可远比100年前美国的殖民行为要人道多了（They're far more humanistic than the United States ever was.）。
"They are non-interventionists, absolutely non-interventionists in a way that Europeans, the West has never managed to fathom."
中国不干涉他国内政。这种不干涉他国内政的做法欧洲及西方国家是无法理解的。
他告诉在场的美国观众，中国没有像过去100年来西方国家那样，带着军队进入非洲，殖民毁灭国家、屠杀人民（Instead of going into Africa with troops, colonially destroying the country, killing people like the West has done for the last hundred years），他们没有任何军事野心。
中国做的是帮助非洲国家搞建设，不求回报，而这也是一种软实力（soft power）的体现。
2017年，他参加报业辛迪加的讨论时也称，中国不是带着投机的目的来掠夺资源的，他们来投资讲究的是打基础，并着眼于未来的二三十年。
They don’t come in to grab an asset for speculative purposes. They come in in order to create a base, on which to build and build. And their horizon is 20-30 years.
他还表示，中国在希腊所做的是欧洲各国没能做到的，即带着本国工人和工程师来踏踏实实做事。
What Europe has not done with Greece is to do what the Chinese were prepared to do – to come there with their workers, with their engineers, and actually do some serious work.
