Chinese and German AI Experts' Meeting in CCNU


In order to deal with the subversive revolution of traditional education each of form, theories, methods, and practice is brought from Artificial Intelligence Technology, and in response to related strategic deployment in China and Germany, from March 25th to 27th, the Sino-German Symposium "China-German Perspectives on AI-suppeorted Educational Technologies" was held in CCNU. Several distinguished experts from both China and Germany gathered together and discussed some cutting-edge issues.



President of CCNU, Zhao Lingyun presented the opening of the forum and gave a welcome speech to the experts. He pointed out that AI is becoming increasingly popular in the areas of robots, finance, medicine, and education. It can be predicted that AI will become a powerful engine of educational informalization and promote new revolution on education technology, methods, thoughts, and policies. 



Therefore, those who have good command and understanding of AI will become the leader of education in the new era. As a normal university, CCNU puts great emphasis on the drive of technology on educational revolution; actively deals with the new changes and challenges brought by new technology through discipline developmental layout and advanced academic research. 



As a result, CCNU possesses a series of research basement such as National Engineering Research Center for E-Learning and has formed a research team comprising 300 experts. CCNU will seize the opportunity of AI, take advantage of data drive, and organize the strength of all the subjects. 



CCNU will spare no effort to promote the application of AI on teaching, research, administration, and student work to explore the methods of revolution in education philosophy, education relationships, and assessment system based on AI, making contributions to the modernization of Chinese education.




The sponsor and the holder of the forum, Prof. Niels Pinkwart further discussed the application of learning analysis technology. He emphasized that we should stress the equity and privacy of AI technology. He proposed to build up an individual data space for students so as to construct a student-centre ecosystem, forming a more stable learning-analyzing pattern, and an AI tutor system rather than a simple AI monitor.



Prof. Liu Sannvya of National Engineering Laboratory for Educational Big Data in CCNU gave a speech titled Development Trend of Intelligent Education, which elaborated in detail the background, trend, and challenge of AI+education development. He believed that the turning point of technology promoting education innovation is coming. How to understand the process and rule of learning by means of AI and how to build a teaching environment combining human and technology are the key urging problems. During the process, there are also many challenges.



During the forum, experts further deeply discussed three topics: the collection, analysis, and building of education data; the education technology based on interactive AI and the factors of successfully building an environment beneficial to our next generation.



There are nearly 200 experts from related areas attending the forum.
