According to the Guangdong Market Supervision Bureau, as of 12:00 noon on July 14th, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Huizhou, Shanwei, Zhanjiang and five other cities had suspended the selling of some of the products imported from Ecuador. Among the suspended products are about 82.3 tons of frozen shrimps, while epidemic prevention and control units conducted about 1041 batches of human, products and environmental targeted test for the virus, all of which came back negative.

On the evening of July 10th, the Guangdong Farmers' Market Working Group issued the “Notice on Urgently Conducting Investigation and Disposal of Frozen South American White Shrimp Imported from Ecuador.” Requesting all parts of the province to immediately Organize the investigation of all farmers' markets and cold storage, shopping malls, supermarkets and other regional places, and targeted the investigation of frozen South American white shrimp produced by three Ecuadorian enterprises after March 12, 2020.

Coronavirus detected in seafood packaging
According to relevant reports, Pingxiang epidemic prevention and control headquarters received a notice from Hunan Province that some of the frozen shrimp brought by their citizen are suspected of carrying the virus. This was after the samples from the same batch they purchased tested positive for the virus, furthermore, the inside walls of the containers that delivered the products were found with virus samples, and the products' packaging also tested positive for the virus.

After receiving the notice, the city conducted a comprehensive investigation of the distribution points, stores, consumers and related contact personnel, sealed the items, and contacted the close-contact personnel. The close-contacts were put into home isolation, and the city strictly carrie out nucleic acid detection of the environment, objects and people in contact.
So far, Pingxiang City has not found any infected people and the situation is under control and the city asked the citizens to remain calm.
