Some of the most beautiful cities in Europe are located in Italy. Rome, the capital city of Italy, is the most famous one and the fourth most populated city in the EU, but it is not the most visited one in the country. Let's take a look at some of the most famous cities in Italy.

Rome 罗马
Rome is in the Lazio Region, Central Italy. The city was founded by Remus and Romulus in 735 BC and quickly became the capital city of the Roman Empire.

Another example of a famous historical Roman building is the Pantheon which is a finely preserved temple with a large circular portico and ranks of huge granite columns.

Naples is the capital city of Campania Region, just south of Rome. As the birthplace of Pizza, the city is famous for its mouthwatering food and delicacies.

Turin served as the capital city of the unified Italy from 1861 to 1865. It also served as the home of the Savoy, one of the most famous dynasties in Europe and the rulers of the Kingdom of Italy.

The city of Pisa is famous for its tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Located on the Piazza del Duomo, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is 57 m tall (183.27 ft) and with a tilt of some 5.5 degrees.

The tower became famous because of the tilt. It was built on soft grounds and the foundations were not good enough to keep the tower straight. Nevertheless, it is still very impressive for the leaning tower to stay leaning for almost 900 years without falling. The tilt was first noticed in the late 1170s.
