Two Teachers Punished for Private Off-Campus Tutoring

On the evening of September 28, the "double reduction" policy supervision team in Jinhua along with public security and other departments jointly launched an evening patrol to enforce a ban on private tutoring of curriculum subjects.
Following clues given by the public, they found a public school teacher offering private lessons to three students at her house.
Neighbors told BAFLA reporters that they often see parents coming to the house to pick up children every evening.
The teacher told an investigating team that she is a teacher at a public primary school. She said she know that what she is doing is in violations of regulations but parents have been adamant that they needed her services.
"I know that it is against the rules, but some parents have been asking for it many times." She told the investigating team.
The education bureau of Jinhua have reported that it has already suspended the teacher and warned other teachers at her school.
Another junior middle school teacher in Yangcheng, Jiangsu province, was caught giving private classes to five middle school students in a private apartment.
According to the investigation team, Yang, a teacher of Huangshagang Junior Middle school was giving private lessons at an apartment building number 11, Huafu Jingcheng, Yancheng City at about 4:20 p.m. on September 20.
Yang has been given administrative sanctions including demerit record, "unqualified" grade on annual assessment, forbidden from participating in the evaluation of excellence and job promotion for 3 years.
Yancheng Education Bureau also gave a warning to the person in charge of the junior middle school that Yang is teaching.
