Since the introduction of venue code in Shenzhen last month, complaints from expats and other foreigners in the city have mounted as the code is not compatible with forms of identifications held by foreigners.
Scanning the venue code is a requirement for using public transportation, and it has caused inconveniences among expats in the city.
The Shenzhen Transport Bureau has thus announced that foreigners no longer need to scan the venue code, but they will need to show their Guangdong Health Code (GHC) and proof of negative nucleic acid test taken within 48 hours when using public transportation.
Challenges
Even with the notice, you might still encounter some who are not aware of it, so it is advised to reason with them and show them your GHC as well as proof of negative nucleic acid test.
Apart from public transportation bureau, other public venues have not officically released information on how to handle foreigners entrance, but officials and people in charge have expressed that a GHC and a proof of negative nucleic acid test will be enough to let a foreign citizen enter the premises.
Good luck!
