The ninth version of the COVID-19 prevention and control guidelines released Tuesday by the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism, has stated that China is effectively reducing the centralized quarantine period to 7 days and adjusting other pandemic prevention and control measures.
China-bound passengers will now be required to undergo a 7 days centralized quarantine, down from 14 days, and 3 days of self-isolation at home, down from the previous 7 days or more in some regions.
Another relaxed measure included in this version concerns close contacts of COVID-19 patients, who will now have to undergo seven days of isolation at home rather than centralized quarantine.
Antigen tests that have been approved for use in China since March this year will also be recognized to screen suspected cases and residents from medium- and high-risk areas.
The updated guidelines were reviewed with regard to the fast spreading but with lower probation period properties of the Omicron variant, health authorities said.
