More than 10,000 exceptional students have chosen fundamental subjects during the past ten years, paving the way for independent talent and laying the groundwork for the creation of the most significant talent and innovation hub in the world.
A total of 265 new majors have been added to the undergraduate program. As a result, 17,000 new undergraduate programs were established, and talent development programs were made more flexible to accommodate new business models, industries, and technology.
“151 new colleges and universities have been established in collaboration by the Ministry of Education, pertinent ministries and commissions, significant businesses, and local governments. According to the press conference, provincial and ministerial co-construction of local universities received funding totaling more than 100 billion yuan during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, significantly raising the overall standard of university construction and expanding its capacity to support key strategic capabilities at the national and regional levels.
China also sets the global standard for education in innovation and entrepreneurship. More than 30,000 specialized courses and 11,000 open online courses on innovation and entrepreneurship education have been launched at colleges and institutions across the nation, and 174,000 talents enlisted as full-time and part-time teachers on development and enterprise.
The capacity of universities to serve major nationwide strategies has continued to enhance and they have received greater than 60 percent of the countrywide technology and innovation grants. The colleges have also undertaken more than 60% of the nation’s fundamental research and more than 80% of the national natural science foundation projects.
Colleges and schools supply key innovations for the high-velocity railroad, nuclear power, natural breeding, immunization improvement, countrywide protection, and different key regions, and efficiently participate in the development of supercomputers, the Baidu satellite navigation system, and the Shenzhou spacecraft series.
