A step-by-step guide for applying to study in China as an international student. For international students, different Chinese schools have varied admissions procedures. For example, although some universities need an interview, others do not. While some universities merely want scanned copies, others require you to mail your materials to their office.

What is the standard application process for international students who want to study in China at Chinese universities? The admissions process for most institutions may just include a couple of the procedures I described, but it’s not bad to be informed and well-prepared.

Step 1: Create enrollment strategies and publish admissions brochures

International student recruiting and management is often handled by separate departments at Chinese universities. On their official website, WeChat Subscription Account, and other locations, the university posts the most recent information regarding admissions. Chinese universities frequently have English-language websites.

Step 2: Disseminate Information About University Programs Through Various Media

The majority of regular colleges and universities work along with a few organizations to enroll international students. Additionally, agents might promote the reputation of foreign universities. You can often contact your local Chinese Embassy for information on how to apply for Chinese government scholarships. Step 3: Gather and initially examine the applicants' application materials

Your application will advance to the next round if your supporting documentation satisfies the school's requirements. Many institutions won't process a student's application materials until the application fee has been paid. You will undergo a more thorough assessment in this stage if you have educational experience in China.

Step4: Review the Candidates' Materials Once More by Academic Departments

In the majority of institutions, a student's application materials determine whether or not they are admitted as undergraduates. The academic department or school will receive the applicants' documents for secondary review if they apply to a postgraduate program. If the competition is very severe, many applications will be rejected at this stage.

Step 5: Schedule interviews for applicants who passed the previous review.

Both graduate and undergraduate admissions are increasingly using video interviews. It is possible to improve on attractive self-introduction, clear and fluent Chinese or English expressiveness, excitement, and courtesy. Step 6: Submit the details of the applicants to the higher department for approval.

The student's application must also be examined by the appropriate superior departments if they intend to apply for programs supported by organizations other than universities, such as provincial or Chinese government scholarship programs. But generally speaking, you will have a good chance of receiving the final admission or scholarship as long as you pass the school selection and are recommended by the university.

Step 7: For approved applicants, issue a pre-admission letter, collect a deposit or tuition fee, and apply for a visa.

The application fee, deposit, or even a portion of the tuition fee may be collected in advance to avoid wasting the enrollment or scholarship quotas. The school will often request the Visa Form (JW 201/202 Form) from the government on your behalf when you are formally admitted.

Step 8: Give students the official admission notice and the visa application form.

Even if you are formally admitted during the pandemic, you are only permitted to receive the electronic admission notice, register online, and take part in online classes. Most typical institutions will only send paper Admission Letters to your home or your agent when China's border is open.

Step 9: Help students finish the registration process.

Online registration for COVID-19 is straightforward, however offline registration is difficult. All of your original paperwork must be examined when you finally get to the school, and a fresh physical checkup at the nearby hospital can also be necessary. For long-term students, the application for a residence permit must be finished within one month.

The majority of institutions' admissions processes only have a couple of these. The typical waiting period for application outcomes is a few days to a few months. When you decide to begin your preparation, please refer to this admissions policy of Chinese universities for foreign applicants who wish to study in China.
